REBECCA - A Broadway Hit Musical In 2012?

The wealthy widower Maxim de Winter falls in love with a beautiful but common young woman, during his holiday in Monte Carlo. The couple gets married and moves into de Winter's English Estate Manderley.



Manderley's long-time house keeper, Mrs. Danvers, had never gotten over the death of her former mistress and Maxim's first wife, the terribly idolized Rebecca. Apparently, the previous First Lady of Manderley had died in a boating accident, just one year earlier. The new Lady's already low self-esteem is tested severely by Mrs. Danvers' continuous display of disrespect toward her. Rebecca's spirit seems to be everywhere, and the young Lady can't do anything "right". When she appears at a society ball in one of Rebecca's gowns, Maxim is furious and the marriage seems to crumble...



When police finally find Rebecca's boat with her dead body in it (back then, Maxim had obviously identified a different victim's corpse as his wife's body), de Winter becomes the prime suspect in this case.



Maxim's young wife discovers new strength and self-confidence through standing by her man. After a series of intrigues and surprising events, de Winter is cleared by police. Manderley and Mrs. Danvers, however, must face a terrible finale...
