Watch Your Favorite ReBoot TV Episodes Once Again!

Perhaps you've heard of the ReBoot cartoon, an animated television series produced by Mainframe Entertainmen (a Canadian company) from 1994 to 2001. If not, then you're missing out.

The ReBoot animated series was way ahead of its time. It was the first full-lenght computer animated TV series, set in a fictional world inside (you guessed it!) a computer. The animated series starred Bob, the hero, Dot, heroine, Bob's love interest, and owner of Dot's Diner, and Enzo, Dot's kid brother. ReBoot was full of danger, excitement, corny computer-terminology one-liners, and even a little bit of romance.

The DVDs also include commentaries and a special "Making Of" special. In addition, there's a 20 page booklet included. The one issue that people have reported is that the audio isn't 100% great; still, that's definitely not going to stop me from wanting it!

New Developments

It's Coming Back!

UPDATE! Rainmaker Entertainment has just opened a store for Reboot merchandise! To read the news release, click here! And to go directly to the store, just head over to Reboot.com.

ReBoot was so good that it developed a rabid fan base that refused to allow the cartoon die when it went off the air in 2001.

But all hope is not lost. A few years ago, the Rainmaker Income Fund bought Mainframe Entertainment. And now, there are NEW films in the works. (As of November 2011, discussion of future films is ongoing). Let's just hope they keep the original humor and quirky flavor of the ReBoot we've all come to know and love.

Reboot was way ahead of its time. All of the computer animated cartoons that are on tv now look as if they were modeled from Reboot. I now want my family to enjoy it as much as I did.

Sky says:

My whole family watched ReBoot religiously. The characters were amazing, the storyline was epic, the CGI looked great. We would record it on VHS and watch them over and over. Definitely not just a kid's show. One of my all-time favorites!!

The art of ReBoot was revolutionary for its time, and even now it's a nostalgic reminder of an era when character, plot and dialog were more important than shiny graphics that look dated within a year. ReBoot's art is still intriguing, even all of these years later.

Reboot Cast

Reboot Cartoon Family Portrait!

Reboot Character: Bob, Guardian 452

Protector of Mainframe

Guardian BobBob is a Guardian, which means that whenever the user inputs a game into Mainframe, he has to enter the game and defeat the user, or else that section of Mainframe will disappear forever. He's also got his hands full with dealing with villains in Mainframe itself, such as Megabyte and Hexidecimal. He's a self-assured type who always thinks he can do things on his own, but often finds that he needs the helping hands of his love-interest Dot and her little brother Enzo.

Reboot Character: Dot Matrix

Saves Bob's Butt All the Time

Dot is a creature of many talents. On the one hand, she single-handedly runs one of the busiest diners in Mainframe, Dot's Diner. She's logical and sensible, whereas Bob and Enzo tend to let their thirsts for adventure get in the way of their better judgement. She's always there to lend a helping hand, and often to save Bob's skin. Something that he is very, very appreciative of...

Not only that, but she's a brilliant tactical and logical thinker in her own right, and ends up owning half of the businesses in Mainframe, even before becoming command.com after Phong.

Reboot Character: Enzo Matrix (Young)

Ambitious, Daring Child Always Looking For Trouble

Enzo MatrixEnzo is one of the more entertaining characters, with his tendency to hatch half-baked plans such as becoming a delivery boy for Megabyte. His thirst for adventure leads him into many scrapes that Bob and Dot need to rescue him from. However, he can hold his own, and turns out to be a valuable addition to their team.

His pet dog Frisket is always by his side ready to help him into (and out of) trouble.

Reboot Character: Phong

Wise Leader of Mainframe

PhongPhong is the wise, if sometimes infuriating, guru who helps Bob on his quests. In order to get advice from Phong, Bob must first win a game of Pong with him. Pong is one of the oldest arcade video games.

As the original Command.com, he lives in the Principle office.

Reboot Character: Megabyte

Scheming Villain, Thought Not Too Bright

MegabyteMegabyte is the most immediate threat to the safety of Mainframe, although his lack of foresight often leads him to diffuse his own plans for computer domination. He wants power, the more, the better. Most of all, he seeks to gain Bob's access codes to the Supercomputer, so that he can wreak havoc on a more epic scale.

Bonus: Megabyte is actually Hexidecimal's brother!

Reboot Character: Hexidecimal

Tricky and Somewhat Insane Villain

HexidecimalYou never know what Hexidecimal is going to pull next. She's as much into creating chaos as she is into gaining power for her own uses. Her face doesn't change expression; instead, she uses an endless series of masks to express pleasure, anger, and pure madness. She's classified as a virus, and holds court from her home in Lost Angles. Guardian Bob leaves the viruses alone as long as they don't cause trouble, but he's quick to catch them if they start getting feisty. Hexidecimal controls the nulls, which are worm-like creatures capable of eating everything in their path.

Reboot Character: Matrix (Grown Up Enzo)

Violent Killer With a Soft Spot

MatrixAfter a game gone wrong, Enzo ends up stuck in the game world where time is sped up. When he finally makes it back to Mainframe, he's aged into an adult, and his experiences have hardened him. He viciously kills any virus that he comes across, but will take time to help people in trouble, if grudgingly. He changes his name to "Matrix" to distance himself from happy, buoyant, but weak child he once was.

Love, love, love this show! My whole family watched it all the time. Just when I thought they were starting to run out of steam they broke out of Mainframe into the Web and the adventure got even better. I really don't understand why this show is not better known. It was quality in every regard. We own the box set of all the original episodes. I'd love to see "ReBoot" get a reboot!!!
