Reborn Dolls - Make or Buy Perfect Realistic Reborn Baby Doll!

There are several techniques for reborning. One "general" technique usually follows this process:

1) A vinyl doll is taken apart -- legs, head, arms, and it's paint is removed.

2) A purple color wash is painted within the inside baby doll part. This gives the baby's parts (excluding the torso) an appearance of a real baby's skin undertones.

3) The outside of each baby part is painted with several layers. There are many techniques reborners use for this process. Their goal is to give the baby parts the appearance of real baby skin tones. They use creative, artistic painting techniques that will give the impression of veins, red spots or baby-like blotching to increase the resemblance of the dolls' skin to look like a real baby.

4) Hair and eyelashes are then added to the head. Reborners normally use very fine mohair or even human hair. The hair is applied with special rooting tools and felt needles, strand by strand. This is a very time-consuming process and can take upwards to 25 hours or more for each reborn doll.

5) A torso is used that is very soft and stuffed with various materials. It is also weighted with various materials to give the reborn baby the right weight and "feeling" of a real newborn baby. The legs, arms and head may also be weighted and are then attached to the torso.

6) Additonal adornments may be added to the reborn baby doll like a heartbeat simulator or breathing simulator and even heat packs.

7) Once the reborner is satisfied with all the enhancements, they clothe the new reborn baby in premie newborn clothing from head to toe. The new reborn baby is now ready for adoption and delivery.
