Our Project: Restoring Peace and Values in the Country of Rwanda

We are launching a project to help restore morals and decency to the African nation of Rwanda. We are looking for people who would like to participate in our project and help the people of this country.

They are a proud people with a strong love for their country and they want to shake the stigma of the genocide which occurred in 1994. They want to restore peace and moral values, and rebuild their nation. We can help them.

The Rwanda Genocide

What Happened in Rwanda?

According to people who have been there on the scene, this movie depicts very well what actually occurred in the Rwanda genocide. This movie is not for the faint-hearted. It is a hard-hitting knock with reality.

Will You Join Our Project?

My husband and I are embarking on a very exciting humanitarian project and we are looking for people who would be interested in participating.

This project has to do with bringing help and true reform to the country of Rwanda.

Unfortunately, there is one word we tend to think of when we here the word "Rwanda" and that word is "genocide."

Rwanda is an African nation which was the site of a horrific genocide. With our help, this country can be well on its way to recovery.

We are working to support Criminon Rwanda and help get the program implemented in every prison of Rwanda.

Our Project: Criminon Rwanda

Our project in Rwanda has to do with criminal reform and restoring moral values to convicted prison inmates.

The program which is being used was created by an international nonprofit organization, Criminon International. This program has been used all over the world with great success, and we are now beginning to implement it in Rwanda. The program starts in the prisons and is aimed at rehabilitating genocide and common-law prisoners.

We have yet to publish all of the successes of the inmates in Rwanda who have done the program, but you can see some examples of the successes of others who did the program in other parts of the world. See Criminon Successes.

The project has initiated in Rwanda with great success but it needs to grow to much bigger proportions.

For an example of a recent success, please see Poetry from the Heart and A New Hope for an Inmate.

We are working to promote information about the project as well as the successes which have already been achieved.

In this way we can gain more support. While this will include fund raising, it is in no means limited to this. People can help in many ways - promoting, contributing, and perhaps even volunteering for the project itself.

Here is a basic rundown of what this project will encompass:

First of all, we have just completed the website for Criminon Rwanda and you can see it here:

Criminon Rwanda

Some of the websites we create will also serve to raise funds. Visitors will be able to donate directly to the project, but we will also have items for sale (from Amazon, eBay, and what have you) and all profits will be donated to the program.

Eventually, (once we sort out all of the technicalities of this) we will submit our project to Squidoo and ask for it to be included as one of charities to which Squidoo Royalties may be donated. This means that (if Squidoo accepts) people would be able to create Squidoo Lenses and have their royalties donated to the project.

We are creating graphics and designs so that we can set up a store on Cafe Press. We will then be able to sell custom-designed T-Shirts, Coffee Cups, Hand Bags, and what have you, on our websites, blogs, and lenses. The profits will go toward the project.

Here are just a few examples of how others can contribute to this project:

Non Financial
  • Creating Squidoo Lenses about the project and/or Squidoo Lenses which raise funds for the project.

  • Writing blog posts about the project.

  • Writing and submitting articles about the project, to help get visitors (including potential donors) to the lenses, blogs, and websites which we will create.

  • Informing others about the project - whether friends, family, or other contacts (not spam!). You might even have a list of email subscribers. If appropriate, you could email your list to inform them of important events - such as the launch of the website when it occurs, launches of fundraising products and activities, etc.

  • You can email friends and family about the project, encourage them to visit our lens (and lenses, as we will build more), ask them to visit our blog (when we create it) and invite them to subscribe, and ask them to each tell 5 friends. In this way you can help us expand our members exponentially.

Financial
  • You can make direct donations to the project - we will set up some simple Paypal Donation buttons for this.

  • You can purchase items from our websites, blogs, and lenses. The profits of any purchase you make from these sites will go toward supporting the project. Since we will also feature links to Amazon and eBay stores, you could theoretically do all of your Christmas shopping through us and all of the commissions would go toward this project. You can also encourage friends and family to do the same.

If you have any additional ideas of what can be done to assist on this project, please add them here:

Christmas for a Changed World

Another Great Way to Contribute

If you would like to contribute but don't have money to donate, you help in many other ways. I hope you will subscribe to my blog so that you will be informed of future updates.

But for starters, by simply doing your Christmas shopping (or any shopping) through this page you will ensure that a percentage of what you spend will be donated to Criminon Rwanda:

Christmas.

You will find links to online stores which have just about anything and everything you could possibly imagine. All of your purchases will be tracked and a percentage will go toward rehabilitating prisoners in Rwanda.

For more information, please visit Christmas.
