This is a low cost stereo receiver with a phono input, along with many other features! It has a built in AM/FM tuner. You can also use the optical ports to connect digital signals to it (from you CD, PC, etc). With so many inputs, it will support both older and newer equipment!
This is a "network" receiver, meaning that it can connect to your network and stream radio! It doesn't have built-in wifi, but you can buy a Onkyo wifi adaptor for this.

It's hard to find a 5.1 or 7.1 home theater receiver with a phono input. Instead of looking for this feature, I recommend buying a separate phono pre-amp like this one. It can hook into any RCA input on any receiver, so you don't need your receiver to have a phono feature.
This little Behringer Phono Preamp has great reviews, and for about $25 it will "bring your vinyl to life!"

- Mcintosh that I have heard in the past hooked up to external speakers has sounded amazing, they are a company now based in L.A. I believe but good stuff.

- I have a JVC RX-5060 receiver, My turnatble is a cheaper Pioneer with the moving magnet cartridge with the built in pre-amp, this turntable is certainly not audiophile quality, but it's a step up from the Sony, same guts as the Pioneer, better needle though, I did notice a big difference in detail, only 20 dollars difference, I use the Pro logic settings for quad records, I know this isn't the same as vintage equipment, but I could tell a big difference in sound effect comparing the same titles in quad and regular formats.
