First my father. He worked for a major steel producing company for thirty plus years and just two years short of retiring was laid off
and as a result, forced to live on a meager much reduced pension.

My brother was the V.P. of operations of a large trucking company and in just the same way, he was laid off right before retiring,

My story is much the same.

After fifteen years as a computer programmer and supposed indispensable team member, global outsourcing swept in and boom! I was no longer needed.

Most recently my nephew who was one of the many that subscribed to the stability concept that I talked about earlier and even guaranteed me his job was secure and he had nothing to worry about, guess what, got canned!

The problem here is that there is no true loyalty between company owners and employees. ESPECIALLY in an economic recession It all comes down to what makes them the most money...which is great for them but definitely does not lend itself to ensuring job security.
