Before I wrote about preparing yourself for an economic downturn. Well, we are IN an economic downturn but it does not have to cause major problems in your life if you know what to do. Although great changes are happening on a macro-economic level, you can control many things in your finances to ensure you can survive and thrive during the financial chaos we are experiencing.
Here are 3 tips you can use right now to ease your anxiety about your economic future.
1. Get a firm grip on your INCOME. Find out exactly where every penny you make comes from and protect those sources. This means showing up on time and doing a good job at your job. It also means looking out for a possible layoff.
2. Scout out other income sources to hedge your bets against hyper-inflation or a job layoff. Everyone right now should have second and even third sources of income. You do not want to get stuck without ANY income right now. Get a second job, sell things on ebay or donate blood or plasma.
3. Save your extra money. Put as much money into CD's or Money Market Savings accounts. Build up your extra resources to smooth out any potential financial hick-ups you might encounter.
