- Shelly, I never knew about adding a little butter to soup like that, sounds like a great idea. You should get me to follow you around more.
A great way to save money on those veggies, etc. is to make soup before they go bad. I love homemade soups the best. One of my favorite added zings is a bit of dill. Fresh dill is always the best. Great lens, nice to stop by again....to get hungry!
Have a great day!

- You're so right about the "mystery soup" surprise--it happpens to me now and then. Taco soup, now that's something I'll have to make--who would have thought of the Hidden Valley Ranch dressing pack in there? Sounds yummy! I discovered along the way that V-8 juice is great in veggie soups, and now they do have the lower sodium variety--when Tipi's and my Dad tried my soup years ago, he said, "Finally someone came up with something that stuff is good for!". I also like to add a bit of butter in my soups just before serving--it could be just me, but I think it just enhances the taste much more than if the butter is added early on--it doesn't take much to increase the pleasure. As you probably have guessed, I love soup and this lens is right up my alley! This is a perfect compliment to your Recession Garden lens, just get your veggies out back and make a pot of soup!

- What an incredible lens. This is perfect for me since I couldn't really cook something to save my life. Soup I can cook and afford...awesome! The black bean salsa soup looks fabulous! Thank you for sharing. I stumbled this one for you and posted it to my Facebook for my friends to see. I tried adding you to Facebook but the page kept coming up wrong. Maybe you should double check the link on your Squidoo profile page? Anyways, great lens! 5 stars! I really enjoyed it.

- I love making soup from little bits of leftover meat and veggies. I can't eat most prepared or dry soups because of the MSG and other nasties, but home made is always good, nutritious and tasty. Thanks for the recipes.

- Loved this, reminds me of some soups I made in the Peace Corps...whatever I had made the soup. Nothing could be wasted espeicially in the Winter when prices for vegetables is so high no one could afford them.

- That pantry soup recipe looks so easy to make. I already have those ingredients in my own pantry!! During these times, being frugal is not just a choice, but for many a way of life. Thanks for the tips here. I have been looking for new recipes that were not to hard to prepare. This was very useful.

- love this lens! I make what I call "poor-mans soup" all the time, what ever I have I throw together, it's always different(need to keep a record of ingredients for repeat making) One thing that i found to be a blessing, is dried onion soup, I use it to make soup, stew and pot roasts in a pinch...you can always add on the extra seasonings....5*

- Yummy! I can't "almost" wait for winter to come to try out some of these recipes. I'm a little squirrel when it comes to saving a bit of this and a bit of that, freezing it and surprisingly can make a soup in no time flat. It may be fashionable but, I haven't been impressed with cold soup yet. Have you a good recipe I might like? 5 stars, favorite and fan.
