Watermelon Basket Fruit Salad Recipe

Watermelon Basket Fruit SaladAll you need for this delicious fruit salad is a large watermelon (you can use either the long type or the round type, but the long one is better...)

Fruit (you can use any kind of fresh fruit, preferably what is in season)

Good Choices:
Any kind of melon
bananas
oranges
pineapple
apple
strawberries
blueberries
raspberries
blackberries
pears
cherries
mangoes
kiwis
tangerines
apricots
peaches

You can cut the fruit into small chunks or ball them with a melon baller.
Cut the fruit right before you are going to fill the basket to avoid rusting (apples will rust, for example)

Once you have made the completed salad, keep it in the refrigerator covered.

How To Carve the Watermelon

Carving the Watermelon BasketCarving the watermelon is fairly easy.

You will need a large sharp knife, a smaller sharp knife, and a melon baller (if you are going to use one).

You will be using the melon from inside your watermelon as the base fruit for your fruit salad.

It is best to use a long type of watermelon, but a round one will do also..

(If you are going to use a round melon you will need to cut a portion out of the bottom so that the watermelon won't roll over).

The pictures and the video below shows exactly how to cut the watermelon.

It's EASY!!!!

The video shows the watermelon with triangular cuts out of it for decoration, but you can also cut curved designs, or no design at all, if you prefer.

Delicious Fruit Salad Sauce

Watermelon Basket Fruit Salad with Pudding Sauce!

Watermelon Fruit Salad with Pudding Cream Sauce

This is it!!!!!

Super YUMMY!!!!!

Fruit Salad Pudding Sauce Recipe

Fruit Salad Sauce

1 package of instant vanilla pudding mix
1 cup of milk
6 tablespoons of concentrated orange juice
(You can also add cream cheese for another delicious flavorful sauce)

Just mix these all together and you have your sauce

The salad is great without the sauce too, but for those who love a creamy pudding sauce, this is the one for you!!!

You can use other kinds (other than vanilla) of instant pudding mix as well, to give a variety of flavors to your fruit salad.

Try banana cream or cheesecake, too! YUMMY!!!!!

You can also use cooked pudding mixes too, but cook it first and don't cook it the length of time required.. after taking off the heat, just go and add your orange juice concentrate.

You may also want to add mango pulp, instead of concentrated orange juice... which is amazing, too!

Mia's Delish Fruit Parfait

Bamboozle Cheesecake Fruit ParfaitHere is another fruit salad recipe that will make your taste buds sing!

This fruit parfait will make you think that you are eating something totally decadent and totally BAD for you!

But you're not!!!!

This recipe is based on one that is found on the Kraft Recipes site, but I have adapted it more to my own taste :)

Mia's Delish Fruit Salad Recipe

Mixing the Topping This recipe has been adapted from the Kraft recipe.

This recipe serves 8 people.

You will need:

1 cup each of berries (or more if you are going to make it for more people) strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, or other are all fine.

(My little twist is to cut up some mango into fine pieces (or strawberries if you don't have mango) and add it into the cream cheese mixture)...

Instant Vanilla Pudding (1 package) - you might also like to try lemon, butterscotch, or other pudding.

8 oz of cream cheese that is room temperature.

1.5 cups of cold milk (I prefer skimmed, because it makes the recipe taste lighter).

1.5 cups of sweetened whipped cream (Cool Whip is fine or Dream Whip or fresh). (You will need to divide this into one cup and 1/2 cup).

Vanilla Wafer cookies (If you are going to go by the Kraft recipe, you will need 24, but I personally prefer to use graham crackers or even cinnamon graham crackers).

How:

Beat cream cheese till creamy and add the milk slowly while blending.

Blend in pudding mix.

Fold in whipped cream.

Fill parfait dishes (or any tall glass, etc) with layers starting with the cookies or graham crackers, then the fruit, then the whipped cream blend, and repeat again. Put a large dollop of the previously reserved whipped cream on top for a beautiful and delicious parfait!
