The good news is there is a natural cure for anxiety that does not call for prescription medication at all. In fact, there are several alternatives that have been shown to produce excellent results in combating the effects of anxiety and panic attacks and their related symptoms. A few of these would include guided visualization exercises, natural herbs, supplements, breathing exercises, cognitive-behavioral therapy and personal development training.

One in four people suffers from some form of anxiety-- and for millions, the symptoms can be crippling. Fortunately, anxiety disorders are highly treatable. Written in a friendly and reassuring manner, The Anxiety Cure offers both sufferers and their loved ones immediate, long-lasting relief. The authors share their step-by-step methods for dealing with the six main types of anxiety, including panic disorder, agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, along with treatment prescriptions and easy relaxation techniques.

Proper breathing techniques- the physical symptoms of anxiety maybe triggered by hyperventilation or rapid breathing, which raises oxygen levels and reduces the amount of carbon dioxide in the blood. A person with anxiety condition should know how to breathe from their diaphragm, and not from their chest, to prevent against hyperventilation. This technique can help you calm down while feeling anxious.

When panic takes over, you feel even less in control. The fear is overwhelming to the point you might dread everything. The symptoms are related to those of anxiety, which can make it difficult to know whether you are suffering from anxiety or panic.

The Mindful Way through Anxiety: Break Free from Chronic Worry and Reclaim Your Life [Paperback]

The Mindful Way through Anxiety: Break Free from Chronic Worry and Reclaim Your Life [Paperback]

A strategy-filled handbook to understand, manage, and conquer your own stress. Anxiety disorders-grouped into three main categories: panic, generalized anxiety, and social anxiety-are among the most common and pervasive mental health complaints. From the subtlest effect of sweaty palms during a work presentation to the more severe symptom of reclusion, anxiety casts a wide net.

Medication, once considered the treatment of choice, is losing favor as more and more sufferers complain of unpleasant side effects and its temporary, quick-fix nature. Now, thanks to a flood of fresh neurobiology research and insights into the anatomy of the anxious brain, effective, practical strategies have emerged allowing us to manage day-to-day anxiety on our own.

The Anxiety & Phobia Workbook [Paperback]

There is a large variety and combination of exercises you can choose to employ from to help you recover from for anxiety symptoms. These exercises include walking, aerobics, running, cycling, swimming and jumping rope. These exercises tend to increase circulation and improve your cardiovascular fitness while helping in anxiety recovery by reducing stress and anxiety. It is even better if it is done outdoors as you then have the added benefits of fresh air and sunshine.

Anxiety disorders are real and have serious health and life consequences. People suffering from anxiety limit themselves for "protection" from imaginary danger. People with social anxiety often just avoid people. Those with performance anxieties avoid situations where they have to perform speaking, singing, tests, etc. Those with anxiety suffer immeasurable costs in lost opportunities. That's why, if you have an anxiety, it's important you fight it with all you've got.

Do you recognize yourself? If so, magnesium supplementation or a diet high in magnesium may be useful. Magnesium is found in green leafy vegetables, in nuts and whole grains. Seeds, legumes (peas and beans) and leafy greens, especially spinach, are all good sources of magnesium. The recommended daily supplementation of magnesium is 250-350 mg. If you are already taking calcium supplements and you suffer from anxiety it is essential that you also take magnesium. Because magnesium will bind to calcium absorption sites in the body, the two supplements cannot be taken together, so take calcium in the morning and magnesium at night.

I can joke about general anxiety disorders because I have one. While it's always good to be able to laugh at your misfortunes, general anxiety disorders can be very hard to live with if you don't seek treatment. A lot of people with general anxiety disorders are either unaware of it, or ashamed to seek help for it. This can often lead to dangerous and unhealthy self-medication habits. Even if it doesn't, general anxiety disorders don't usually go away on their own, and often get worse with age.

Fortunately, there are a lot of things you can do to reduce the symptoms of a general anxiety disorder. Two things you can do right off the bat that may lower your anxiety down to manageable levels by themselves; quit caffeine, and get some regular exercise. An excessive caffeine intake can mimic a general anxiety disorder, and you may have been diagnosed with one when really you're just drinking too much coffee or tea. Exercise is also a great way to boost your natural anti-anxiety chemicals. I've found that so long as I keep caffeine intake down and go for regular runs my anxiety is probably not any worse than average.

There are plenty of other things to try to help with a general anxiety disorder as well, such as meditation, getting enough sleep, talk therapy, creative arts, music, or anything that helps you relax. No matter how crazy your life is, set aside some time to do something relaxing everyday.

If you've found that even after trying everything you can think of to lower anxiety yet you still have more than you can handle, it's never a bad idea to talk to your doctor about it. There are some effective medications available for general anxiety disorders today.
