An Expensive Solution

I searched and searched my computer, but it began to become very clear to me that my Excel spreadsheet was lost. I realized that I probably deleted it during my spring clean, so I phoned a computer expert to see if there was anything that could be done.

The expert explained to me that when a file is deleted, the data doesn't disappear immediately, making freshly deleted files recoverable. He did explain why that was the case, but to be perfectly honest I didn't understand (and still don't!). Not that I was really interested in the explanation anyway.

I don't know if that guy knew (or felt) that I was desperate, but he charged me an arm and a leg to recover the spreadsheet. It was expensive, but the spreadsheet was worth much more. Frankly, I was just grateful to have my Excel file back.
