i accidentally emptied the trash with a word file on which i worked for 1 hour. immediately after it i searched for a recovery program. I tried both programs described here. stellar mac scanned my 500 GB SSD for about 3 hours and did not find it. data rescue 3 scanned 40 minutes and found several versions of it. if i had found it with the 10 free previews (it had 30 .doc files) i could have recovered one version for free. stealer mac had no preview i just saw some code or such. i hoped that my files is among the found files, as it found many quite old files. i bought data rescue 3 and luckily there they were. so data rescue 3 worked for me perfectly.

My entire iphoto library went missing, I assume I accidentally deleted it even though it wasn't in the trash. When I installed iphoto again it was empty. Would this program discover all my photo's individually or in an iphoto album/file. Not sure if this makes sense but thought I would ask anyway. Thanks

    hey guys,

Well i seem to have deleted "hidden" files which are used by the OS X. Now i cant even go on the internet, neither open any application. De Macbook is slow and once i try to open the internet (or any application) it plays me the "an error has been .." then it shuts down the application.

I have been told to re-install the OS X software again en it will install only the missing files. But i dont wanna take the risk to lose all my data.

    Any advice will be appreciated!

    cheers,
    Jasin

May 13, 2011. Your not going to believe this, but Stellar Phoenix just recovered 3, 300 Mb avi files of my grandson from my NIKON D5000 SD card that was erased! I tried MacKeeper first but it wouldn't even recognize the card and kept getting giving me an error message. I was truly hesitant to want to buy this product so I downloaded it to see if would recognize the SD disk. Not only was it fast but brought up frames from each AVI file. You FOLKS have my respect and Gratitude! Thanks again

This product WORKED. It's not a scam, I was a little hesitant but since I was in a major bind, I decided to just wing it and go with it = voila, it found an Excel file that I had accidentally deleted a month prior, a quite large file with a lot of data. This saved my life. THANK YOU!

Hello, I just used the Stellar Phoniex software and apparently it was able to find my files on my hard drive, but at this stage when I try to recover them it says that I should choose another volume for saving them. What other volumes does a macbook have? I mean other than macintash HD which is my hard drive? It's been several days from the day that stellar found my photos, and I am afraid to turn off my computer because it may lead to lose my photos again since I was not able to recover them on my computer. Does anyone know what I should do? Thanks
  • marisaB Mar 17, 2011 @ 5:21 am | delete
Hi Golriz, have you tried emailing them directly? I would try here: support (at) stellarinfo.com
  • Canadaram Apr 21, 2011 @ 5:23 pm | delete
Another volume means another hard drive you connect by USB or Firewire, or a USB memory stick, or another partition on your internal drive. You have to have some space to write the recovered files to - and it can't be on the same volume you are recovering.
  • emran Apr 28, 2012 @ 3:35 am | delete
save them on USB or some other external HD

i had a seriously important chinese essay i had to hand up and i accidentally deleted it about a week and a half ago. i only just realized that i deleted it when i just wanted to print it out. i use my computer every day but i really need this essay , do you think i can still retrieve it back?!
  • marisaB Dec 4, 2010 @ 6:33 pm | delete
After you finish the scanning process, you should be able to see whether your file is listed as recoverable. I guess it all depends on how much information was written on your Mac after you accidentally deleted your essay. Good luck!

A dvd burning software thought that 17 gigs of video footage (over 8 hrs) were temporary files and deleted them, bypassing the trash completely. I need some serious help to get my .mov and after effects files back.

I lost some files from my desktop on my mac book air recently. I downloaded the above two apps but remo recover mac was the only one which got the deleted files even which was emptied from the trash and that too with all file name in perfect working condition.
  • Boris Jun 4, 2010 @ 9:47 am | delete
I recovered the 100%, about 20% was difficult to find but not impossible, was with some other name.

The order of the file list is not in a perfect order, that makes even harder to find what you need.

I bought the StellarPhoenix software. I had accidentally deleted all my photos and didn't realise for two days. It took quite a while to get through everything, but thankfully I recovered almost of all of my deleted Photos. It is definitely worth the $119!

I am trying to recover documents in my trash which I emptied. Am I correct in understanding that my files/ docs are only recoverable IF I used the "rm command" to delete them? I always drag the trash to my garbage icon then use the menu bar to empty the trash. Does that mean this will not work for me?

I'm trying to recover a word file and it was not recently emptied form my trash. I used SP to recover my word documents, but the documents it found are not named what I originally named them- just a whole bunch of numbers. Is there anyway to know what these documents are before I buy the registration key? Thanks.

If you are worried if Data Rescue II can work for you, we have a demo that you can try before hand that we recommend to all of our customers. The demo will allow you to scan the drive and recover one file that is 5Mb or less for demo purposes. Then at that point it will list out what it found and if it is satisfactory, you can then purchase it on our website www.prosofteng.com for the serial code to activate the software, so you don't have to scan again.

I'm scared how reliable this is I emptied my usb by putting everything in the trash thinking it was on my desktop but they where older files opps, then I emptied my trash and realised a few days later oops I needed that.

BTW Gina your file might not work because it has only been saved to a usb and not to the desktop ect which word automatically deletes and you can not recover it.
That happened to me once, so annoying...
  • Alan Prosoft Jun 4, 2009 @ 1:18 pm | delete
If your trash was securely erased, then no. What a secure erase does after deleting the files is to write over the missing space with binary code (0s and 1s) to make sure that nothing is recoverable. When you do a regular empty trash, your file is still there on the drive, but not visible. With secure erases, those files will be non-recoverable.

Will this work if the files have been surcurely deleted with a program such as 'Trash It!'??

The Stellar Phoenix Macintosh Data Recovery software worked like a charm! I needed to recover files on my macintosh that I had accidentally deleted (emptied trash and everything) and it pulled up files from what seems like years ago. The only thing is that although the download to search for files is free, to recover the files it makes you register the product, which means pay for it, and it was expensive ($129.00 from the product site). If you really need to retrieve something you lost or deleted, though, it is worth it. It works and does what it promised!

Gina-So was the file deleted? Or, did you simply turn the computer on and off and now the file no longer opens?

Gina - This word document, are you saying you deleted it, or simply you turned the computer on then off and the word document no longer opens? Please contact me at alau@prosofteng.com

    -Cinnamon-
If you have deleted a file and have used the computer since then, there is a chance that you could overwrite your file. Also when a file is deleted, it won't have it's reference name. This means that if it was called backup.dmg, it will come back with a generic name such as file00001.dmg. For additional assistance on the product please call our support line at 1-925-426-6306 M-F 7am-5pm pst or you can send them an email at support@prosofteng.com

I recently deleted an encrypted dmg. file and have used my computer ever since regularly. i tried to recover the files with help of data rescue II and did a thorough scan but I can't seem to find the file I deleted. instead it shows me the deleted cache and the files that are already on me computer. Is there any way I can specify my search. All the files have been renamed. Help.
