It is the greatest joy for me to ride my bent - Young men come right up and ask, "Cool Bike, where can I get one?
Again, I took a ride around town and several young guys stopped me. One kid hauled out some money and asked me to sell my BikeE to him right there on the spot. Amazing! Of course I informed him that it was not for sale, so he asked me where he could get one. I pointed him to my Ebay Listings which I find myself doing more and more. He went right to the site on his iphone, but in checking my stats, I see no sales from that day on recumbents. Oh well, I try. The young guys seem to just love it. I could start a side business of buying these bikes and selling them as I ride around town. HMMMMM
YourHub.com recently did a story about me online, and I know it went into print as well, but sorry I have not seen the print story because I don't get the paper! To see my story online visit this link ===> Lakewood man and his BikeE.

Pat and I ride as often as we can, but we have busy schedules. We are going on the LCF all church bike ride on June 27th from Frisco to Dillon, which is always a fun ride with friends. Recently we broke out of our neighborhood and rode all over Lakewood, through Belmar, over to Addenbrooke, then through Belmar Park, then to the Village Roaster on Garrison st. That of course was our real goal but we sort of took the long way there. After getting coffee, we went back home and made some coffee. Surprise! We often work coffee into our bike rides, or we work a good lunch into a ride. See the Village Roaster Coffee Shop
Nothing is better than a recumbent bike for comfort and pleasure. As we get older we need easier ways to get our exercise, enjoy the view and the ride. Everyday upright bikes are hard on the shoulders and those skinny seats cause circulation to be cut off to the feet in many cases. NOT when you ride a cool Recumbent Bicycle!
A recumbent bicycle is a variety of bicycle which places the rider in a seated or supine position (rarely, in a prone position). Recumbents hold the world speed record for a bicycle and were banned from international racing in 1934.
The back of the rider is supported, and the rider's legs extend forward to pedals that are at about the same height as the seat. Steering is either above- or over-seat steering (ASS or OSS) using a handlebar in front of the rider, or under-seat steering (USS) using a handlebar under the seat. The wheels are often smaller and/or further apart than on an upright bicycle.
I have a website that has many recumbent bicycles for sale through the ebay system and I lay them all out for you right on the front page.
Here is my own testimony about my bike, which is a BikeE
In the past, I rode mountain bikes and road bikes of traditional design. You know what I'm talking about, those killer bikes the young people love so much that make your shoulders sore, and your butt too! Not so with the bicycle you see at the left. It is the BikeE Recumbent, with full back support and a very comfortable (wide) seat with plenty of cushion. It's a little like riding a chopper, without a piston engine. The engine is you! Your cranks are out in front of you, similar to how it works on many types of excercise bikes in the gym. This bike is great for your body. It really works your hips & thighs.
My wife and I go on rides quite a lot in good weather times, and she rides an upright while I ride my BikeE above. I have a friend who rides a home built full on recumbent with under the seat steering, and we really create attention when we ride together through the city parks and trails.
Young people naturally gravitate to recumbent bicycles because they look like "low riders". Wherever I go on the bike, no matter what, I always get at least one comment like "man that's a cool bike", or "hey man, how much dies that bike cost"?

The History of recumbent cycling:
Records of recumbent designs go back to the early days of cycling, however recumbent use was not widespread until the late 20th century. Recumbent riders hold world speed records for unpaced, human-powered vehicles. Tricycles form a substantial part of the recumbent market (far more so than they do for uprights); the generic term "bike" tends to be applied to these as well.
I have found a great website for Recumbent Riders called WWW.BENTRIDERONLINE.COM
This is an excellent bent source of information. Includes lots of reviews of recumbent bikes and equipment. Also the International Human Powered Vehiocle Association is interesting to visit - They have published an FAQ about recumbents - Read the recumbent FAQ

Ride The Wild Recumbent
My Original Article from October 2007
Long story short, I discovered the BikeE Recumbent about 6 years ago, and purchased it immediately without looking around much more. I took a test ride on it and bought it the minute I rode it back to the store. The fact is that I got lucky, and it was a good buy for me.
This is the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden. I love the thing, and it has had a very positive impact on my overall feeling for riding. My wife Pat rides an upright bike, and is fine with it, so we are a pair riding all over Lakewood bike trails leading into other cities all over the metro.
Sometimes I ride the bike through Belmar, and it gets some reactions from people. I have had a lot of young people ask me, "Where can I get one of those?" I have also seen another guy about my age riding one, but I have always been in my car when I see him drive by. Some day I will meet up with him on the bikeE, and we will chat.
It is difficult to tell people the long story of how BikeE went out of business, and are not being sold new anymore, but I usually just refer them to EBAY and let them find one of their own in the used category. Just by riding mine, I have sold a few of them that way.
I had a shoulder injury back in 2000, and had surgery in 2001. Ever since then I have not been comfortable on a regular upright road bike or mountain bike. It was just after that surgery and recovery that I decided to get my BikeE and the road has been open ever since.
The BikeE is a recumbent with the handlebars in front. See the picture to get the idea. Some recumbents steer under the seat, but that model was not suitable for me. As long as I am not placing pressure on my shoulder, as with the BikeE, there is no pain and suffering riding.
When turning you have to be very careful. The BikeE turns well, but you can't look back behind you easily. If you turn all the way around, you may have an accident by inadvertently turning the bars as you crane your neck. It is best to use a rear view mirror, or ride behind your riding partner.
I have ridden the BikeE all over trails here in the city, and the mountains. It is fine on most paved trails, and is capable of doing them all, but will not ride off road well and in fact would be dangerous to ride on a rough mountain trail.
The other day a young man said, "Hey, cool bike. Looks like a low rider." I get that reaction too from time to time. It is a low rider of sorts, and some people who ride them attach a flag to the seat so other riders and cars can see them coming.
Whatever the case, the recumbent put me back in the biking business. I love my BikeE recumbent.
