Type 1: Tadpole - 2 wheels in front with 1 wheel at the rear

Type 2: Delta- 1 wheel in the front with 2 at the rear.

The Tips

1. Before you begin, sketch out how the bike should look. It might be helpful to talk to someone who has already attempted to build their own recumbent trike.

2. Make sure that all of the materials you use for the bike can be repaired easily without expense. Some parts are really hard to get a hold of.

4. Wheels/Sizes: 18inch/20inch rims are the most popular

5. Steering: This is a matter of taste. You have a choice between having the steering above the wheel or below it.

You can get more comprehensive tips from resources such as Recumbent Trike.
