I live on a dirt rock road in the Ozarks. I am going to do an experiment that will save energy, machinery, tax money, and land fills everywhere. It also has no environmental hazards. I will report my findings back to this site. Just an idea. It will take me a few months before I report back.

Excellent, practical lens that focuses on a critical issue. More people really need to pay attention to this subject. Blessed and featured on my Winging It lens.

Old carpet is wonderful as a weed inhibitor.

Manufacturers/retailers must take responsibility and offer to remove old floorcovering for recycling when delivering a new one. In the UK they already do that with large appliances so it could be extended to carpets too.

Blessed by a Squid angel :-)

Our new home development gave us the option to have foam backed siding, could we not just put the clean, treated, carpet in the siding vs the foam for added insulation to the home?! This would also leave out some of the industrial process that produceds greenhouse gasses that may come from other forms of recycling.

We once "recycled" a bunch of old carpet by using it under gravel to prevent weeds from coming up through it. It worked REALLY well.
