Recycled Magazine Christmas Tree Craft

Magazine Christmas Tree Craft

Make a Magazine Christmas Tree from an old magazine or book! It's a really simple folding project. It's creating a lovely recycled piece of artwork for the holidays. You can give them as gifts, use them for decor or even sell them as shown on Martha Stewart's show. They made several and sold them for charity. You can spray glue and sprinkle glitter for a masterpiece. These are really fun!

1. Optional: Remove both covers from magazine. I actually left mine on.

2. Take the upper right hand corner of the first page and bring it down so that the top edge of the page rest against the glued binding of the magazine.

3. Now crease this first fold, carefully. Again, take this page and fold it over until the crease rests against the glued binding of the magazine. Crease second fold.

4. Finally fold the triangle (that overlaps the bottom of the magazine) upward so it will be even with the bottom of the book, crease it. The first page is finished.

5. Continue folding & creasing the remaining pages.

6. When the magazine is completely folded glue the front and back pages together. Spray tree with paint, and sprinkle glitter while still wet. Glue a star to the top.

Tip: To create a bigger tree, try gluing two Reader's Digest magazines back-to-back.

Step 1: Fold into Triangle

These are really unique! I like how the colors of the magazine show through under the green sparkly spray paint.
