Earth Friendly Rag Rugs

Earth Friendly Rag Rugs is an attempt to help those who seek to recycle things in unconventional ways.

Below are examples of the best PAST rugs. Each is made with "retired" tee shirts and other knit garments.Small stains and holes do not matter as they are worked into the stitches and disappear.

Your collection of a child's favorite shirts could even be used to customize a room, make a memory gift, or many other ideas.

Tumbling Blocks in black, white, and gray.

How about this example of a limited color scheme...

Using black, gray and white ONLY this quilt pattern called "Tumbling Blocks" was created. Quilt and Cross stitch patterns can both be used quite easily!

My Favorite Pattern

My Favorite example of what you can do with old tee shirts and a crochet hook.

I call this one "Falling Leaves".

Contents of this particular piece include a couple of "retired" turtleneck sweaters.

Anything knit can be used, however I have

found that cotton tees are the most consistent to work with.Their amount of stretch is predictable so you can cut strips all the same width. the end product will be even in thickness and stitches will be consistent.

Quilt Patterns make great rugs!

Here is a classic quilt pattern! although the name of it eludes me...

The pattern can be repeated as many time as you want, thus varying the size and width of your piece.

Moooove on with your ideas...

And an abstract one. The size and shape can be whatever you want. But since it is a specific color there is a need to gather enough of each for the size you need. It is a cow print , in case there was a question about that...

IF you can sketch, there is no limit!

How about this GREAT Dog Bowl Mat?

The background is 2 tone blue with that neat bone and ball. I will be making another like it soon.
