The desperate leadership of a doomed Soviet Union travels back in time to change history and restore the glory of Mother Russia. The time travel mission goes awry, creating an alternate timeline where technology has followed an entirely different evolution, a new superpower has been thrust on to the world stage, and World War III is raging. The Empire of the Rising Sun has risen in the East, making World War III a three-way struggle between the Soviets, the Allies, and the Empire with armies fielding wacky and wonderful weapons and technologies like Tesla coils, heavily armed War Blimps, teleportation, armored bears, intelligent dolphins, floating island fortresses, and transforming tanks.

The Red Alert series takes place in an alternate timeline, created when Albert Einstein travels back to the past and eliminates Adolf Hitler in an attempt to prevent World War II. The plan backfires and results in an unchecked Soviet invasion of Europe by Joseph Stalin in the 1950s. In the first game of the series, the Allied Europe tries to fend off the invasion of the Soviet Union. There are two distinct storylines, depending on which faction the player wishes to play as.In Red Alert 2, the Soviets invade the United States of America; however, the leader of U.S.S.R., Premier Alexander Romanov, is actually being mind-controlled by a mysterious figure Yuri, leader of the Soviet Psychic Corps.
In Command and Conquer: Yuri's Revenge (RA2 expansion pack), the story is based around Yuri coming out of hiding to take over the world by using his Psychic Dominators to mind-control the entire population. Again, there are two different storylines, but in both Yuri is the antagonist that has to be defeated by the player.
RA3 picks up in the ending days of the war depicted in RA2. Soviet Premier Cherdenko authorizes use of a Temporal Displacement Device being build in secret by the Soviets. A strike team goes back in time and eliminates Einstein, who was responsible for most of the Allies superior technology. Upon returning from the past, the Soviets learn that the Allies were weakened, but that a new threat has arisen: the Empire of the Rising Sun, a technologically superior power hellbent on world domination.

Here it is! RA3, the sequel to one of the best RTS ever made, RA2. This time around, RA3 will include full 3D graphics using the same engine as Tiberium Wars (with similar graphical quality. In this video you get to see the water effects which look hell good. RA3 also includes a third faction, The Empire of the Sun which is Japan that will fight against the Allies and the Soviets. Nothing much to say except that EA better not screw this up after buying Westwood. RA3 will be released this October on the PS3, Xbox 360 and the PC.
