Red Christmas Decoration Ideas

Does Red Christmas Decor Put You in the Holiday Mood?

I love Christmas red. It is such a happy, vibrant color and really pops against white walls. My favorite decoration is some vintage red and white ball trim and, no matter what holiday color trends I'm following in other parts of the house, one part of the house is very definitely decorated with Santa red accessories!

I think another reason that red is my favorite color for Christmas is that it really contrasts well with Scottie fur! This vintage chair is another thing I traditionally use each year. When the chair isn't occupied by the aforementioned Scottie, its shabby chic paint looks great as a backdrop for a rustic Santa display.

Oh Red Wooden Tree, Oh Red Wooden Tree...

A Wooden Tree Decoration Is a Great Way to Display Mini Ornaments

The newly red tree drying on my outdoor work table

A few years ago, there was a really cute red wooden tree decoration at Crate and Barrel. I really wanted to buy it, but being a frugal mama, I couldn't justify $39.95 for a decoration, even if I could also use it for Valentine's Day. I decided to try to make it myself and went to the craft store to look for a similar tree that I could paint. I was out of luck. There wasn't a cute wooden tree to be had.

On the way out of the store, I decided to swing by the clearance section. There, what to my wondering eyes did appear but a black sparkly wooden tree in the 90 percent off Halloween bin.

After some sanding and spraying, I have the red wooden tree I wanted. But instead of almost $40, I spent $2.49 plus part of a can of spray paint. It isn't identical to the Pottery Barn tree, but I'm not big on buying something off the shelf and using it as is anyway, so that's fine with me!

A cute red chair can hold a collection of Christmas bears, a mini North Pole village, or a pile of gifts that are too fragile to end up getting shoved around under the tree. It also makes a great holder for a holiday wreath or a bowl of colorful ornaments.
