Good Clean Fun
I have been a fan of Steve Smith, better known as 'Red Green,' on the popular Canadian series 'The Red Green Show,' even before it was a show!
I first became a fan during my teen years after watching regular episodes of Smith & Smith with my mom, who was one of the most patriotic Canadians I have ever known and a huge fan of Canadian comedy.
Smith & Smith was a Canadian sketch comedy series, which aired from 1979 to 1985. The comedy show was created by Steve Smith and his wife Morag Smith who both starred in the series. The humour (notice the Canadian spelling) was clean, clever and a guarantee for a good laugh. One of the recurring skits on the show was Steve playing his character Red Green. Morag Smith retired from performing in 1991 and from there Steve went on to launch his series The Red Green Show.

The Red Green show
The popular Canadian comedy series The Red Green Show originally aired in 1991 and ran until the series finale on April 7, 2006 on CBC. (Canadian Broadcast Corp.)The show has become increasingly popular in the US and reruns can still be viewed on CBC Television, The Comedy Network and a handful of other PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) stations.
The show is the comical slapstick adventures of a Canadian 'Red Neck.' One of my favorite skits and I'm sure a big factor in the show's popularity, are the 'practical' inventions Red creates from old vehicles, in which he uses Duct Tape as his sole means of 'welding' his creations together. These are totally hilarious!

Red Green - The Word Game
In order to get the mildly crude humour of this clip, you should first have a little bit of background on Mike who is a regular character on the show. Mike is a likable ex-convict with a questionable lineage and an even more questionable upbringing, but never the less an official member of Possum Lodge, the local men's hangout, and a friend of Red's.

Red Green - The Adventures of Bill
Another one of my personal favourites (there's our Canuck spelling again) from the show - The Adventures of Bill.

Red Green Goes Big Screen
Duct Tape Forever
Red Green goes Big Screen in this full length feature film adventure starring Red Green and his nerdy nephew Harold, played by Patrick McKenna (from the hit TV series Traders). Harold stars in the Red Green TV series as well. Duct Tape Forever Trailer
Certainly not your 5 star movie, perhaps not even 2 star, but good for a few laughs. If you're a rookie to the comedy of Red Green though, my advice to you would be to skip the movie and check out the series.

- Have never heard of it but no doubt would enjoy it. It is not Canadian spelling, rather just plain old English spelling. I spell the same way.

- What a fun lens!! I hadn't heard of Red Green. Unless it comes to BBC America, we won't stand much of a chance of seeing this program, but now I'll know what to watch for.
