Wear Red Shirts on Friday, Until They All Come Home!

The Red Shirt Friday Tradition started in 2005 by concerned citizens and a lot of Vietnam Vets. After a heated political season in the United States, where the young guys and gals who chose to wear the uniform of their Military choice we maligned as baby killers, jacked booted thugs, etc;. After the Vietnam Veteran taking the political heat back in the 60's and early 70's, the concerned citizens and Vets decided: Not This Time! Since 911 there have been over 5 Million to join the Military service because they Heard the Call of Duty and they were not going to be used as political pawns. The Red Shirt Friday Tradition is not political in any way nor does it show a support for or against the Global War on Terror. We simply want those who heard the Call of Duty to know that we appreciate them and look at them as heroes.

What the Tradition is.

Red Shirt Friday TraditionThe Red Shirt Friday Tradition that encourages the citizens of the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and other countries that came to the Military Defense of America after the attacks of 911 to very simply wear a Red Shirt on Friday to show our support and appreciation to the young men and women who heard the Call of Duty. The Supporters of the Tradition made the decision in 2005 to let these young guys and gals know with out question that we were with them and had their back while they were on the front lines of the Global War on Terror. Sometimes we all forget to say the right words to them but wearing a Red Shirt on Friday says it all. Most members of the Military know what it means and appreciates the encouragement and recognition.

What the Red Shirt Friday Tradition is NOT!

We Support the TroopsWe constantly educate people on what the Red Shirt Friday Tradition is not attempting to do:
1) The Tradition is in no way political. We have had politicians ask how they can help further the Red Shirt Friday Tradition. Our answer is always the same: Go Buy a Red Shirt, Wear it on Friday and Explain to others that notice it, why you are wearing it.
2) The Tradition in now way shows support for or against the Global War on Terror. We support and appreciate the Guys and Gals who heard the Call of Duty. Nothing more, Nothing Less!

What Can You Do?

Burgess Red Shirt Friday Very simply, you can explore the Why Red Shirt Friday site, get an understanding of the Tradition and Get A Red Shirt for ALL OF YOUR FRIDAYS, UNTIL THEY ALL COME HOME! Listen to the videos on the site, read the articles, be in the know about a Tradition that they so rightly deserve. Have a Red Shirt Friday get-together as we have done on many occasions. This is a picture of my Dear Mom's 89th Birthday in 2011 and it became a Burgess Red Shirt Friday gathering at the same time. Our family has a long tradition of Military Service and totally understand the sacrifice these young Guys and Gals must be willing to make.

Your Company or Your Business or Your Hero

Lake Side Animal ClinicWe have had several Internet Marketing companies and local businesses in the Cedar Creek Area of Texas and else where that wanted a special customized Red Shirt with Their Words on them to personalize them. There are numerous people that want their hero on them as a Memorial or In Honor of Them. Those are all available on the site as you will see. If you have to go to your local clothing store to buy one, please do that. Deb and I did just that for over five years since we had two of our boys in the United States Army with a combined five tours of Duty in the War Zones of Iraq and Afghanistan. Yes, we were accused of being the bobsy twins but those comments gave us a chance to explain the Red Shirt Friday Tradition.
The picture is of the Lake Side Animal Clinic in Gun Barrel City, Texas. When either of our two dogs needs a visit to the vet, Guess Where They Go?

Good on you for doing this. I'm a Brit living abroad in New Zealand and we remember that NZ also has soldiers in many of the World's hot spots. We won't forget them, they pay to high a price to do that.

Hi Lawrence and thank for the nice comment. We have a couple of friends in Australia and NZ who also promote the Red Shirt Friday Tradition also. These young guys and gals who wear the uniform from NZ etc; deserve our appreciation for sure.
