Mechanics Scare Me To Death

So I've Always Spent WAY Too Much Money Getting my Cars Fixed!

I have always had problems when it came to used cars, or even cars that I bought new, but had reached the point where "things" were starting to happen. My first impulse would be to trade it in on a new car just so I wouldn't have to deal with the dealerships and mechanics.

HOW EXPENSIVE WAS THAT!?! VERY!!!

But honestly the thought of trusting my wallet to a mechanic just didn't sit well with me. You heard so many stories about mechanics being able to talk you into paying for things that you may or may not have needed. And I don't like giving my wallet to ANYONE! Now I know I could have prevented this by understanding more about how a car works and potential problems and issues, but you certainly aren't going to learn that from your mechanic, and I've never really had anyone in my life that has been good at "car things".

SO WHAT'S A PERSON TO DO?

Well THANK HEAVENS I've found RedDodgeDiary.com! Paul - the guy that runs RedDodgeDiary.com - is the most wonderful person at being able to explain complicated mechanics in a way that makes them very UNCOMPLICATED.

His articles are fun to read as well as being informative.
His fixes for things are unique and understandable.
The ads on his pages are relevant and useful.
There are LOTS OF PICTURES!
There's an ASK PAUL feature coming soon!

I've tried reading other auto repair and fix it sites, but honestly you have to already know how to work on cars to make sense out of those sites. Which may be fine for some, but it doesn't help me AT ALL!

In the future I may still take my car to a mechanic to get it fixed, but I will go in loaded with information so I can have an informed discussion with the mechanic. And that's the only way I'll be able to find a mechanic that is really going to help me.

And in those instances when I can't get to a mechanic right away, I'll know for sure if the issue is something I can FIX MYSELF or not.
