Hints for making money on Redgage

Helpful resources to make money on RedGage

These hints are based on my experience of using RedGage to earn income. They are offered to save you time and money as a result of learning these things by trial and error.
  • Upload your best photos first - so that you can attract Admin bonuses (usually around $5.50 per photo).
  • Build your social network on RedGage by adding new friends. Just click on a displayed user name and click "add friend".
  • Comment on photos - this earns you points towards the $50 daily competition and encourages others to visit your content.
  • Before you use the "add friend" button, take the time to make a comment on some content of the "friend" - this is more likely to guarantee a positive response.
  • When commenting on photos, make your comments meaningful and insightful - don't just use single word comments (unless appropriate). Make an effort to be sincere and you will be rewarded with reciprocal visits.
  • Don't use your comments to start a fight, prove you are superior or to diminish the other person - this will rebound against you as others will avoid you (because they do not wish to have negative comments on their own content). What goes round comes round - the old Karma rule!
  • Refer others to RedGage by using the RedGage referral URL:
    http://www.redgage.com/?refby= YOURUSERNAME
Each referral earns you points which can help you win money from the RedGage competition.
  • Post your individual Squidoo modules to RedGage for more targeted viewing. You will find the link URL via the "link" button at the bottom of each module. You might have to use bit.ly (or other form of URL shortener) to get RedGage to accept the URL address (it sometimes doesn't like long URLs).
  • Make a significant contribution and you could be a "featured user" showing on the RedGage Homepage - I achieved this honor on 6th August 2009...and my traffic has increased as a result.

Why Make Quality Comments on RedGage?

Both Squidoo and RedGage have introduced policies to stamp out spamming. RedGage has especially targeted comment spamming. Spam comments detract from the value of uploaded content, upset the content creator and devalue the site in the eyes of Google.

But why take the time to create quality comments on RedGage (and Squidoo for that matter)? Here's some great reasons!
  1. Your comments brand you. Do you want to be branded as intelligent, insightful, knowledgeable or empathetic OR superficial, aggressive, ill-informed or mercenary?
  2. Quality comments build relationships - superficial ones do not. This is the era of relationship marketing or "permission marketing" (as Seth Godin describes it).
  3. Your creative comments enable others to add comments of value by building on your ideas - you can stimulate creativity in other viewers.
  4. If your comments are meaningful or insightful, they will encourage viewers to look at other content you have uploaded and re-visit your profile.
  5. Quality comments add value to the uploaded content. Google can associate content and comments via semantic linking. In plain English, your comments may include keywords that Google will associate with the uploaded content as a result of your commenting.
  6. Informed comment sets in train a range of value-adding effects that influence Google's evaluation of a site like RedGage. If comments are relevant to content, add new keyword associations, enable further quality comments, promote information exchange and facilitate relationship building, then RedGage will be assessed by Google as a reliable authority source. This will result in improved page ranking (PR) for RedGage and everyone benefits through better quality backlinks.
  7. The RedGage community is enriched by quality comments that are informed, sincere and relevant. Superficial or spurious comments undermine the sense of community on RedGage and impact negatively the commitment of content contributors.

How to make quality comments on RedGage content

These suggestions apply to commenting on Squidoo lenses as well as on RedGage content. I have started observing more closely the quality of comments on both sites. Here are some ideas on how to make your comments on RedGage more meaningful, more value-adding and more appreciated.
  1. Think and act as if it's your own content - "do unto others...".
  2. Think SEO - if you can create a new keyword association for the content by your comments, then you are adding substantial value.
  3. Relate the content to your own experiences and share those experiences (briefly).
  4. Put a contrary point of view based on your own knowledge and experience (provide evidence). Be careful of the tone and tenor of your comments here.
  5. Provide links to similar ideas/content where appropriate.
  6. Share your feelings as well as your thoughts.
  7. Use the content as an opportunity to reflect and share those reflections.
  8. Be conscious of building relationships and contributing value to the RedGage community.
  9. Acknowledge the creator's contribution to knowledge, to the network, to the community or the world at large.

Throughout the day you can earn points that will convert into "raffle tickets" based on your RedGage activity.
