20 years ago your typical Christian metal band felt it could only compete on the world stage in copious amounts of make-up, long hair and colorful spandex.
Nowadays they can still deliver the music to an acceptably high level of standard but are more suitably attired. Nothing fancy, just what your typical twenty-something would wear around the house.
Breakthrough act Red don't look like anything special. Just a bunch of guys who know how to construct a memorable hook and back it up with some industrial strength rhythms.
Michael Barnes is the mouthpiece of the band, with a vocal range of both the lead singers of Linkin Park. Jasen Raunch is one half of the wall of guitar attack, Hayden Lamb provides the percussive chops, and twins Anthony and Randy Armstrong round out the band on guitar and bass respectively. With Randy filling in on additional duties of background vocals and piano.
An impressive debut. Similar to Linkin Park but without the occasional hip hop and rap interludes. I just hope they don't rework and rerelease their first outing another 2 or 3 times like LP did and stick to producing original content with each subsequent release.

Red's music is characterized by heavy, angst-asserting instrumentation (à la nu metal), and backing piano, strings, and industrial beats. This technique is often compared to Linkin Park; one member states that "It is fine with us to be compared to Linkin Park, who sold 27 million albums last year."
The band started touring in the fall of 2006 with Kutless and Disciple. They will continue touring through February 2007 with Three Days Grace and Flyleaf. The band also makes appearances at the Christian teen conference Acquire the Fire.
Red saw its music used nationally by CBS in promotional spots for its hit, drama, "Without A Trace". The song, "Let Go", from the band's GRAMMY-nominated album, End of Silence, waw heard during the mid-day and primetime promo spots through Wednesday, May 9, 2007. "Without A Trace" airs Sundays, 10 PM ET/PT, on CBS.
Red's upcoming, national tour with multi-platinum bands, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin and Puddle of Mudd, kicks off Sunday, May 13 in Boston, Mass. and will run through Wednesday, June 27, 2007, wrapping in Bakersfield, Calif. "Breathe Into Me" won the "Rock Recorded Song of the Year" at the 38th annual GMA Dove Awards in 2007.
The band's single "Breathe Into Me" has become a Top 20 Mainstream Rock hit and will most likely soon be a Top 10 hit. Heavy touring with big rock acts like Breaking Benjamin, Sevendust and Three Days Grace have also attributed to the success of the single, as well as the success of their debut album.
