The To-Do list that lets you Re-Do it all over again

Some to-do lists are always the same. You pack (or forget) the same toiletries for vacation, you shop at the same few places, and you file the same quarterly tax paperwork. Wouldn't it be great if you could create a repeatable to-do list for all these repeating to-dos?

That's exactly what ReDo (Repeatable ToDo) does for your iPod, iPhone, or iPad.

That's not all. You can use ReDo to save time while grocery shopping, never forget a birthday card, and keep all your Squidoo lenses organized and updated. Learn how, from a real live ReDoer. Me!

What can you use it for?

A to-do list that you can wipe clean and use all over again. What would we need that for? As it turns out, a lot!
  • Write a master list of household chores, including those pesky monthly or twice-yearly overhaul items. Whenever you have a spare minute, complete one or two tasks, and your spring cleaning won't build up. Let the kids have fun checking off their own chore lists.
  • Packing for a trip of any size was just made easier. Forgotten items can be added to the list, never to be forgotten again. Same goes for pool parties, trips to the beach, doctor appointments, playdates in the park, day trips to the mall...
  • Type up your expanded grocery list, and before you go to the store, check off things you don't need. As you purchase them, check the rest of the items off your list. This will help you avoid impulse shopping and you'll always have staples on hand.
  • Self-employed? Taxes can be tricky. Create your monthly, quarterly, and yearly checklists and you'll avoid the time drains and fines of forgetting.
  • Invitation lists for parties, weddings, baby showers, etc. Create your list once, then check it off when you send invitations, and receive RSVPs. You'll easily be able to see which people to follow up with.
  • Birthdays and anniversaries. Check off names when you send a card and refresh the list for next year.
  • Christmas and other holiday card lists. You can easily add and remove names and addresses, and your list will be harder to lose. (Yup, finally found my card list from 1996...)

How can ReDo help you on Squidoo?

  • 1Take a few minutes at a time to add your list of Squidoo lenses to a ReDo list.
  • 2Each time you update a lens, cross it off on your list.
  • 3Run through your list of lenses to tweak, update, and republish your lenses consistently.
  • 4If there's something you should always check on a certain lens, add it as a note.
  • 5When you've crossed off all your lenses, clear it and start over. Your lenses will ALL always be up-to-date!

Need an iPod?

Since the iPhone only recently became available for Verizon customers, I've relied on my iPod more over the past year than my phone. With the exception of a great Google calendar app and a camera, my iPod Touch does more than my phone. (Yes, you can get free text messaging and Skype.) I don't like actually talking to people anyway. ;)

ReDo: is it worth it?

Especially if you're adding hundreds of Squidoo lens titles to this app, setting up repeatable to-do lists can take some time.

Is having repeatable to-do lists worth it to you?

Yes! What a time saver...

Jonsky says:

You can set a task to repeat after completion on Omnifocus but I like to keep it clean so this could be useful.

spirituality says:

I use the iPad app 'things' for my to-do lists, and that includes redo's. Not quite as granular as your solution I think, but good enough for right now.

Luminosity says:

It makes sense, we all have chores of one sort or another, and to get them done quickly and well it helps to have a little organization.
Therefore it makes sense that if we have to do the dishes and laundry on a laundry day to have that repeated so that we can work our way down our lists like magic.

Susan52 says:

I think ReDo would be a wonderful tool to have and definitely worth the time for the set-up. Wow!

No, I have a memory like an elephant.

What will you use ReDo for?

I have a short daily list I'd love to have on ReDo. I especially like your grocery list suggestion. Now all I need is an iPod!
