Red Sea Crossing Discovered. Artifacts & Evidence
Ranked #153 in Culture & Society, #3,842 overall
Evidence and discovery story of the real Red Sea crossing.
The Israelites have just been set free after 400 years of slavery in Egypt. After many plagues and the passover, Pharoah finally lets the people go. He changes his mind and comes after them with his army of chariots. God moves the pillar of cloud between the Egyptians and His people so that the Egyptians don't get them.
God tells Moses to lift his rod and the waters of the Red Sea part. The Israelites then cross the red sea on dry land. After they cross, the Egyptian army continues to follow the same path. God causes the wheels of chariots to come apart. As they are in the middle of the sea God closes the waters upon them and they drown.
Where did this take place and is there evidence of an Egyptian army that died there. Where did the Israelites cross the Red Sea? Is there evidence of their journey from Egypt to the Red Sea Crossing? There is great evidence for their leaving Egypt, their journey, their red sea crossing, their journey in the wilderness, and the Mount Sinai holy mountain.

Pillar on Egypt side. Gulf of Aqaba
Ron Wyatt discovered a column on the beach laying half in the water. After later telling authorities about it, was then set up in concrete. He later discovered a pillar on the Saudi Arabia side too.
King Solomon had these columns erected 400 years after the miracle of the crossing of the Red Sea on dry land. Solomon's sea port was at the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba at Eilat (I Kings 9:26) and he was very familiar with the Red Sea crossing site, as it was in his neighborhood. The Bible even mentions this column! Isaiah 19:19, "In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border." As of 2005 was still there.
You can see the shadow of this pillar on google earth! How awesome is that? This pillar, Ron said, was moved across the road, see below.

Pillar (column) Saudi Arabia side Removed.

The original pillar on the Saudi Arabia side was another marker (put there by King Solomon) marking the Red Sea crossing of Moses and the Exodus.
Ron Wyatt and sons went on another trip to the Red Sea to dive, coming in illegally from Jordan, they were arrested while trying to leave the country. After Ron Wyatt was arrested as a "Israeli Spy" by the Saudi's, he led them to the pillar on their coast. He believed it saved his life. The pillar on the Saudi Arabia side was removed from its original location -- they have sunk a large marker in concrete where it was once located. There is small pole sticking out of this concrete, along with a metal survey marker which says "Red Sea Coastal Survey".
In the photo at the top is his son, Danny Wyatt, on a recent visit talking about the columns on the beaches of the crossing. Ronnie and Dannie are the two sons of Ron who came on many of the trips he made during all his great discoveries.
There were inscriptions on this pillar that said:
Pharoah, Mizraim (Egypt), Moses, death, water, Yahweh, Solomon, Edom
"Waters of Moses Opening"

The name Nuweiba is short for Nuwayba' al Muzayyinah which means "Waters of Moses Opening". Amazing! At the exact spot where the crossing took place, we have the site confirmed by maps.

1998 Dive - Ron Wyatt, Bill Fry and group.
In December of 1998, Ron Wyatt, Bill Fry and 7 others (9 people) traveled to Nuweiba at the Guld of Aqaba in Egypt. They spent two days diving where they believed the Red Sea had parted and Moses and the Israelites crossed. They saw several items that appeared to be coral incrusted evidence of chariot wheels their cabs. There were several bones that had been coral encrusted, including a human femur (upper leg bone). That bone was tested and confirmed to be coralized human femur. These items were photographed showing clear and distinctive shapes of bones laying on the floor of the sea.
Everyone that went was convinced this was the red sea crossing area. "What a rare privilege it was to view, first hand, the evidence that God has preserved." - Bill Fry 1998 Dive

May 2000 Dive Trip
This dive trip included: Ross Patterson from Australia, Viveka Ponten from Sweden, Michael Redman and Aaron Sen from Britain and Tor Larsen from Norway. It was a series of dives from May to September of 2000. Their main purpose was to chart the contours and depth of the underwater bridge or "landbridge". Some items were found, but nothing that could be removed without destroying [also against Egyptian law to remove coral].
At one dive they discovered a wheel shaped coral. It was the size of a chariot wheel. It had the hub and 6 spokes. This was located at about 28 metres. The diver with the metal detector swept it and got a positive reading around the rim, but not the spokes or hub. The diver that first located it tried to move it, but it wouldn't budge.
There was found to be metal in several corals along with rust color that looked like iron. The remains of would have mostly rusted away but leaving tiny amounts of metal traces. They've been there since 1446 BC.

This one had four spokes with gold, but the wood was too rotten it was impossible to move. (Even if they could bring it up it was illegal to remove ancient Egyptian artifacts.) 1998 Dive. May 2000 Dives.
Chariot Wheels found at the Gulf of Aqaba.

Ancient Egyptian chariot wheels of the 18th dynasty have been found at the Nuweba beach site on both Egypt and Saudi sides. 4, 6, and 8 spoked wheels were only during the 18th dynasty. Found here were wheels, axels with wheels, a chariot box, horse hooves, human bones and many rusted colored chorals. Red Sea Dive 2000 - 1998 Dive with Ron Wyatt.
Ron Wyatt - The Discovery
The discovery of the Red Sea Crossing begins with Ron Wyatt and his two boys. In 1978 as they took a dive into the Red Sea they found chariot remains. They of course were covered in coral, which preserved their shapes. Some wheels were on axles and some were not. They also found chariot cabs without wheels. (Exod. 14:24,25) There were many 6-spoked wheels and a 8-spoked wheel.
In 1988, Ron found the 4-spoked gold chariot wheel. Coral does not grow on gold. The wood inside the gold coating was deteriorated and that made it fragile to touch. He recovered a wheel with 8 spokes that he took to Cairo to the director whom he'd been working with. It was discovered to be of the 18th dynasty of ancient Egypt. Also only during the 18th dynasty were the 4 and 6 spoked wheels used.

- God caused a strong east wind to blow the waters back so the people could walk ten miles through the Red Sea to safety in Arabia. The crossing path is about a quarter to a half mile wide and is on a gradual slope down to the bottom of the Red Sea and then up to the Saudi beach. On either side of this path are the depths of the Red Sea, the Eilat Deep and the Aragonese Deep, each 3000 and 5000 feet deep respectively.

- Fascinating. I've been to Nuweiba a number of times and it's amazing. You can get out on the coral for about a hundred metres, then there's the sudden drop of about ten metres, the water is so clear you can see all the way to the bottom.
I've come across the idea of the Gulf of Aqaba being the palce of the red sea crossing before and the idea that Sinai (Horeb) is in Arabia, This is really well researched. Well done
