Hail to the Redskins!

On September 16th 1937 the Redskins made their Washington debut, by beating the New York Giants 13-3 at Griffith Stadium. The star of the game was RB Riley Smith who sealed the game with a 60-yard TD run. The Redskins would go on to impress Washington fans all season claiming the Eastern Division with a solid 8-3 record. In the NFL Championship Game the Redskins faced the Bears on a frigid day in Chicago. The Redskins seemed to have an answer for the Bears all day. Every time the Bears took the lead, Slingin' Sammy Baugh (who passed away last week, RIP) would answer with a TD. In the 3rd Quarter alone Baugh tied the score on TD passes twice before giving the Redskins lead 28-21 with a pass to Ed Justice. The Redskins would not relinquish the lead winning their first Championship 28-21, as Baugh passed for 352 yards.

Three Super Bowl Championships later, Redskins fans the world over continue to hail their 'Skins whilst looking forward to some more championships.
