Boston Red Sox - 2007 & 2004 World Champions!

This Red Sox lens is dedicated to my grandfather, Edgar Hebert, a Fall River, Massachusetts native, who loved baseball and the Red Sox, and who lived and cheered for over 80 years, and never saw them win the World Series.  And for his brother, Rene, who died in the Normandy invasion after landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day, after far too few games of catch with my grandfather, and who was never far from my grandfather's thoughts.

Faith, Hope and Determination

Boston was built on it.
The Country was built on it.
My family was built on it.

It's at the core of every Red Sox fan.

Tired of the Boston Winters?

You can still be a Boston Red Sox fan - and be warm at the same time.

Thinking of relocating to sunny Florida? Buy my brother's house (he loves the Boston Red Sox even more than I do!)

Plus, he had lunch with Jim Rice. Oh yeah, he's the man...

Red Sox Gifts for Him

Where eva you spend Christmas, ya gotta get Red Sox gifts for you favorite Red Sox fan!

These are my favorite - hand-selected by me :)

Let's face it, if you're a Red Sox girl, and a guy walked buy wearing these 5 things, you'd be buyin' him a Sam Adams, wouldn't ya?

Red Sox Gifts for Her

The only thing Red Sox girls love more than the Red Sox is their men (sometimes ;)

So, if she gets you & the Red Sox for Christmas - and the 2007 World Series Championship - all in the same year, she's battin' a thousand!

Red Sox Gifts for Everyone who loves Beantown!

And who is enjoying the Pats, reliving the glory (2004 & 2007) as often as possible, & anxiously awaiting the 2008 Red Sox season - all at the same time. Only Red Sox fans can multi-task like that!

And, in case you are not actually a Red Sox fan, but you love one (which brings you here to get them one of the most special gifts of all), the importance of the 2004 World Series is that we had to go THROUGH the Yankees to get there - so that DVD will help your Red Sox fan relive the glory of reversing the curse, etc etc (because that DVD includes the playoffs w/the Yankees)!

Red Sox Comments

We won! We won! We won!

2004 Really wasn't a fluke!

Boy, how I love 4-in-a-row sweeps!

"Francona" now means - the ONLY manager in MLB to win his first 8 straight World Series Games!

Red Sox Cookies!!!

Yep. These are the folks - Starlight Creatives - who delivered the cookies to Red Sox at Fenway Park for their World Series' Celebrations!

And now, you can enjoy them too!

Every Baseball Cap get a lovely red letter "B" of course!

For the sweet-tooth in your home (I don't think there's a person alive in New England that doesn't have a sweet-tooth, or, for that matter, an addiction to mashed potatoes ;).

Recent Red Sox (and Yankees) Scores

Wow, winter went by fast! (thank goodness) Spring is upon us and so is our favorite Red Sox 2008 season. I feel at a loss this year. We've beaten the unbeatable against all odds and then went on to win the World Series in 2004, and we confirmed by winning the World Series last year in October 2007 that October 2004 was not a fluke.

So, what's there left to do in 2008? I'm feeling anxious (as in, when you're on top, there's only one way to go ) - but happy too.

Leave it to a Red Sox fan to find anxiety even in triumph! (We're well conditioned that way!)

Celebrating the 2007 Red Sox World Series Championship

With great summation of the season, the play-offs, and the 4 World Series Games wins!

Sweep Caroline! Sox win World Series in four games

The Boston Red Sox completed a sweep of the World Series Sunday night, beating the Colorado Rockies in four games. The final was 4-3. Boston jumped out to a 1-0 first inning lead and added single runs in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings. Mike Lowell and Bobby Kielty each had home runs for Boston, and Brad Hawpe and Garrett Atkins homered for Colorado. Atkins hit his, a two-run shot in the eighth off Boston set-up man Hideki Okajima, who had given up a three-run homer to Matt Holliday in the seventh inning Saturday night. Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon came in with one out in the eighth and retired Ryan Spillbourgs on a ground ball and Hawpe on a flyout to center field. After the Sox went down in order in the ninth, Papelbon retired Torvit Torrealba on a grounder to second. Jamie Carroll hit a long fly ball to left field that Ellsbury caught at the wall and pinch hitter Seth Smith struck out on a 2-2 pitch. At 12:06 EDT on Monday, Oct. 29, the Red Sox were world champions again and the party was on. The win went to Jon Lester, the young pitcher who beat cancer this year. Making his first start of the post-season, Lester pitched 5 2/3 innings of no-run, three-hit ball. The save went to Papelbon, who pitched 11 scoreless inningfs in the post season, including 4 2/3 in the World Series. Mike Lowell, the free-agent-to-be, was named most valuable player of the World Series. He batted .400, with three doubles and the home run in the clincher.

The Yankees Rivalry

What's different about Red Sox fans? RESILIENCY

Yankee fans never have to exercise their faith, hope and determination muscles. You need very little faith and hope with an extremely winning team.

Red Sox fans have a depth and breadth of emotion that few other fans have. We can feel both despair and hope, pessimism and optimism almost simultaneously.

Law of Attraction and the Red Sox

The Law of Attraction says that the energy that you focus on will return to you a self-fulfilling prophecy. So, it's been very difficult for Red Sox fans to ignore 86 years of "we almost had them" and set their minds and energy on the optimum outcome.

But, in 2004, Red Sox fans did it! We started to say, even more than we had in past years, despite 86 years of disappointment, "We Believe!"

We actually said outloud, "Why Not Us?"

And then the Miracle manifested - in the most miraculous way.

2004: The so-called "Curse" is Gone

What was the Curse?

Before 2004, 1918 was the last time the Red Sox won the World Series. About a year later, the Red Sox traded Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees. Oooops.

What is the Green Monster?

Just over 37 feet high, it is taller than any other wall in an American professional ball park. It "eats" or prevents lots of hits that would otherwise be homeruns in any other ballpark.

Provides a serious outfielding advantage to Red Sox left fielders against visitors who don't know how to play a line-drive off the Monster.

Gotta Have it

Red Sox Greats

Some of these guys I (and my much more dedicated brother) grew up watching, mostly on tv, but sometimes from the right field bleachers (in the 1970's before the Moster had seats).
  • Carl Yastrzemski (Yaz)
  • Carlton Fisk (poured his heart out)
  • Fred Lyn
  • Ted Williams (the Great)
  • Dwight Evans
  • Wade Boggs
  • Roger Clemens (aka the Traitor)

CHAMP House - My favorite Charity

CHAMP HOUSE Another Massachusetts House built on Faith, Hope and Determination.

"Places of Hope, Built on Faith"

Located in Cape Cod, and founded in early 1990's by my uncle and aunt, Paul and Carolyn Hebert, Champ Homes are 4 residences that shelter, feed, nurture, support and rebuild souls.

Support them (I do!) - they do the oh-so-necessary work that the rest of us are too busy or too wimpy to do. God bless them.

About TheresaMarkham

Theresa A. Markham, Esq. loves living in scenic Northwest New Jersey with her husband, Chuck, and daughter Zoe, who are visited by her GWU-college-graduate step-daughter Samantha.  She donates 10% of her net profits from her book, "The Kids' Bank Book," to Champ House (a residence for at-risk members of the Cape Cod community).

Her law firm (http://www.markhamlawyer.com/),  crafts creative solutions for her clients' financial disputes, while helping them grow through difficult life challenges.  Prior to relocating New Jersey several years ago, she lived in Manhattan and worked on Wall Street.

She has had two of her letters published in the New York Times' Letters to the Editor, and has been featured in the American Bar Association Journal.  She is grateful for the fabulous education she received at Fordham University School of Law (over a decade ago), as well as for her world-class church (for which the family commutes to Manhattan), Marble Collegiate Church, and wonderful minister, Dr. Arthur Caliandro, (who shared the pulpit for several years with Dr. Norman Vincent Peale before assuming the role of Senior Minister).

A confirmed math-nerd, she loves playing with the family in the evenings, quilting (with its combination of geometry and art), driving through the countryside, making snow angels, and baking anything with lots of sugar, butter and white flour (preferably sugar cookies).  She's from a blended family - of both Red Sox and Yankees fans - of course, she cheers for the boys in red (it's the irresistible underdog advocate instinct).  Originally from just outside Fall River, Massachusetts, she occasionally "paks her cah in the yahd" and has to drive to Boston for real clam chowder and baked beans.
