After the success of the Easytone, Reebok decided to unleash a muscle toning sneaker that can be worn whilst running; the end result is the hugely popular Reebok Runtone Action.

The Runtone Action is sneaker that is designed specifically to strengthen certain leg, calf and butt muscles when running.

What Technology can be Found in the Reebok RunTone?

The Reebok Easytone featured three instability pods on the soles of the shoes, whereas the Reebok RunTone has six, although you would be forgiven for thinking that they have eight!

Whilst there are eight pods on the outsole, hidden out of sight there are six air-filled pods in the midsole, with 5 in the heel, and one in the forefoot. The three pods on the outsole on the ball of the foot help to spread the weight more evenly to provide a firm base for the push off for greater stability and control.

Due to the increased forces at work when running, Reebok increased the cushioning for Runtones to be able to cope with an increased strike force, in particular in the heel of the shoes. Reebok added DMX Shear cushioning to absorb the force of the heel strike and dissipate it evenly and cushioning has been increased for the forefoot with the addition of a MEVA midsole. The result is great cushioning, great support and improved stability, perfect for jogging and running.

The shoes still feature the famed SmoothFit system inside the shoes, offering a super soft liner with all of the seams removed to ensure there are no potential sources of abrasion, and the fit is superb, with the Easytones, Runtones and now the new Traintones for the gym are amongst the most comfortable sneakers you are likely to find anywhere.

After being bombarded by ads on television and seeing a couple girls with these cute shoes on while running, I finally decided to get myself a pair of Reebok RunTone shoes.

Out of the box, I can say I was impressed with the overall design of the shoe. They looked great by themselves and they looked even better on my feet.  After trying them on, I decided to go out for a little run. While running, I realized it was a little unstable. The instability of the RunTone is due to air-filled pods that move throughout the bottom of the shoe. This is there to activate the muscles, which results in toning. I can definitely say that after that run, my legs were burning me. It seems as though they really work.

I realized that I probably did too much on the first day, as my legs were in so much pain. I really think it is a good idea to slowly build up, as it takes some time for your feet and legs to get used to the shoe.

After wearing the shoes for a couple of weeks, I can say that they have become a favorite. My legs have a nice tone to them, but I am not sure if this is due to the sneaker or my exercise. I think the shoes have major role to play with my tone, as they feel different than any other sneaker out there.

Would I recommend the Reebok Runtone Action, my answer would be an emphatic YES.
