Why should I even think about getting a refurbished hdtv?
First of all, before I forget, there are some coupons on the bottom of this lens. These will really save you some bucks! Here's why you should consider buying a refurbished hdtv.
You're in the market for a television. That's a $1,000. - $2,000. purchase, give or take.
It depends on the model, features, etc...
a heck of a lot of money...
So, let's say, you've done your research...
and you're ready to take out your wallet...
This is a huuuuge purchase, isn't it? Anything costing over $1,000 is expensive to me...
Now, imagine paying 30%, 40% of retail prices... less than $1,000. for a tv worth $1,500.
Think about what you can do with that extra $600.
Why, buy another appliance...
or just pocket the cash...
Read on below, to find out what a refurbished hdtv (or, even better, a factory refurbished hdtv) really is and what the risks in buying refurbished entails.
Oh, C'mon, I know all about refurbushid HDTVs. I've bought refurbished once, and I'll never buy "new" again. Take me to the site already, please!

Yes, I want a new hdtv. But a refurbished hdtv?
First of all, what kind of refurbished hdtv should I avoid?
In this lens, when I say "refurbished" I mean "factory refurbished"; not a tv that someone returned to the local store that they are trying to resell, or refurbs that come from third party, non-factory authorized refurbishers. These are unlikely to hold a manufacturer's warranty and probably don't have original factory parts.
Is a refurbished hdtv for you?

So, what is considered a factory refurbished hdtv? Well, there can be several scenarios. Most major electronic retailers, like Circuit City or Best Buy, offer a 30 day money back guarantee. If, for whatever reason, (it's not the right size, partner doesn't care for it, etc.) a customer returns an hdtv, the store can't sell it for the original price. These products are returned to the manufacturer, inspected and repackaged like new. Other reasons may be: the tv might have a slight defect... the box may have been damaged during shipment...or the box was simply opened! It is not possible to know the history of each item, but for whatever reason it was returned to the manufacturer. The item is inspected, serviced, tested and repackaged to meet original product specifications. Refurbished hdtvs (and other refurbished merchandise) come with an original manufacturers warranty - that proves to you the confidence that the manufacturer has in the products. They wouldn't guarantee the tv's performance if they suspect trouble!
So where can I buy a refurbished hdtv?
The store that I'm recommending, Second Act
was founded in 2003, and is located in Minnesota. It deals with refurbished merchandise, especially refurbished HDTVs for a looong time. Their site is easy to navigate, and their customer service is top-notch. Their hallmark is reliability. You can also buy extended warranties at their site. You can read testimonials on their site, or you can read them at e-pinions, etc.
Honestly, you can't really go wrong by checking out what they have in stock. The benefits of buying a refurbished hdtv are the same as a new one; so think again and shop smart.
