A refurbished item is one that has been used and returned to the factory or authorized reseller and then cleaned up, repaired and made to look like new. When purchasing a refurbished item, you want to make sure that there is a warranty available and watch for it to either be sold by an authorized reseller or the factory. Many times, since the item has been repaired already you are getting a product that is better than new because any known bugs will have been fixed and repaired.

Refurbished items should not be confused with "open box" items which are those where the box has been opened, but the product has never been used.
