Refurbished Plasma tv - Refurbished lcd tv - Is it worth it?

Looking for a refurbished plasma tv or a refurbished lcd tv - and being nervous about it? You've come to the right place. I did alot of research on refurbished plasma tvs and refurbished TVs in general, and I will share my discoveries in this lens.

What exactly is a refurbished plasma tv?

Before you buy, you need to know what you're getting into.

Is a refurbished plasma tv someone else's garbage? Of course, you don't want to spend "any" money on buying a broken tv. It's just not worth it.

This is what a refurbished plasma tv is: Big box retail stores that sell electronic goods, like Circuit City, have 30 day money back guarantees. So, if a customer for whatever reason returns a plasma tv, the store sends it back to the manufacturer. Reasons can range from a tv being the wrong size, to the tv having a defect. At the manufacturer, the tv is inspected, serviced, thoroughly tested and repackaged. It is then like a brand new tv. In a sense, a refurbished plasma tv is even better than a new one; because it has been rigourously tested that it works perfectly.

What's the advantages of buying a refurbished plasma tv?

The advantage of buying a refurbished plasma tv is simple: you save a ton of money. A refurbished plasma tv is usually priced 30% to 40% below big box stores. Savings can sometimes run in the 60% to 80% range. So, you pay a maximum price of approximately $700. for a $1,000 plasma tv... or $900 for a $1,500. tv... Think of what you can do with that extra $600... Or say that you have $1,000. to pay for a tv; if you buy a refurbished plasma tv, you can get much more bang for your buck.

Finally, where can I get a refurbished plasma tv?

By now you're probably yelling, "Okay, so tell me already, where the heck can I get this refurbished plasma tv?"

I did extensive research and this is what I found: There's a site called Second Act.
It is located in Minnesota and it sells refurbished plasma tvs, refurbished lcds; basically most of what it sells is refurbished tvs. Their site is easy to navigate and they have excellent customer service. Their delivery turnaround time is very good and fast. Virtually all of the refurbished tvs that they sell come with a manufacturer's warranty and extended warranties can be purchased as well.

So, why buy new when you can get the same tv in factory refurbished for 30% - 60% savings, without experiencing any difference? Manufacturers are extremely assured about their refurbished plasma tvs (and lcds) and offer the original warranty. Statistics show that most people who have purchased factory equipment would never buy new again!
