How to Fix a Slow Computer - This is How to Speed Up Your PC and Make it Run Like New!

Is your PC running really slow? This could be caused for many different reasons. If you have failed to properly maintain your computer, then its performance will become more sluggish over time. Eventually your system will be so filled with errors that Windows may be unable to even start up. More specifically if you see the following symptoms, your computer is probably in big trouble:

* Slow PC performance and a slow shutdown and boot-up.
* A decrease in the overall speed.
* Difficulty in accessing files and running programs.
* General Errors.
* Programs that cannot be opened.
* The system frequently freezes or crashes.

So, what can you do to save your computer and increase its speed?

1. Get rid of viruses, spyware and adware: when you surf the net you might be visiting malicious sites without your knowledge. These websites may have dropped spyware, viruses and Trojans into your system, which can result in a decrease in speed among other things.
2. Defragment your hard drives: defragmenting your hard drives can help you free up disk space. Open "My Computer" choose the disk volume you want to defragment, click "Properties", go to "Tools" - "Defragment Now". Due to the fact that this operation might take a long time, it would be a good idea to analyze the volume to determine the percentage of fragmentation. To check for fragmented files go to "Start" - "All Programs" - "Accessories" - "System Tools" - "Disk Defragmenter", click the volume and click "Analyze". When the process is finished click "View Report" to review the results. Alternatively you can schedule an automatic defragmenter on a certain day each week.
3. Fix registry errors: a corrupted registry is the main reason why your PC slows down. The registry holds information of every program that was ever installed in your PC, but over time it gets too big and filled with invalid entries. In this case, it can lead to constant crashing and slowing down of your computer. The solution would be to download a free registry scanner, which will locate and delete all the invalid entries.

Trying to clean your registry all by yourself can be dangerous. You may delete vital files from your system and your PC may crash. A reliable registry cleaner software will locate and delete only the corrupted files and will automatically back up all the important files. This way there is no risk involved.

Is Your PC Too Slow? Try These Amazing Tricks to Speed Up Your Computer in No Time!

Most PC users begin to complain that their computer is becoming slower over time. User complaints are minimal when their computer is still new. But as time goes by, they begin to notice that the speed is decreased and their PC keeps freezing.

So, how can you fight this problem and have your computer run like new again?

* Repair disk errors: Run the Error Checking utility to check the integrity of the files stored on your hard disk. Over time hard drives tend to develop bad sectors, which slow down performance. By using the Error Checking utility you will be able to scan the hard drive and find out if certain files or folders are misplaced.
* Remove Autostart Programs: First, you need to find out if there are any unnecessary programs that start automatically. Many programs simply run in the background without you realising it, because they remain completely hidden. Some others show an icon on your taskbar to let you know they are in operation. These programs will steal away valuable memory and cause a sluggish performance. To remove them Click Start, Run, type Msconfig, and press Enter. You will find a list of all the programs that run when Windows loads, on the Startup tab. Next, you need to clear the check box next to any item you don't need, click Apply, and restart your PC. You can also use the Autoruns freeware tool, to locate any program that will start automatically.
* Repair the registry: this is the single most important step you can take, if you want to boost your PC's performance. The Windows registry stores all the configurations and settings of your system. However, over time it becomes corrupted, which considerably slows down speed. To fix this problem, you must delete all the wrong entries that cause problems to your pc. Don't try to do it yourself, because it can lead to a crash. The best solution would be to download a reliable online tool, which can repair your registry in no time.

So, what happens if you have taken all the above steps and nothing has worked? In the rare case that even the last step hasn't helped, then your last solution would be to reinstall the Operating System and all the programs. Of course you will need to backup all your data and user settings, before doing that. This would be like having a new computer, however the downside is that it takes a lot of time and you also risk losing some of your data.
