Using Registry Cleaners to Improve PC Performance
I'm not going to give you a tutorial on how to use regedit.exe the built in registry editor to windows. Instead I'm going to talk to you about Registry cleaner software, a much simpler, and less daunting alternative.
Registry repair software was developed to do exactly as it says, repair you Windows registry. There are well over 100 different titles available, and the majority of them do the same thing, all though not every program does as good a job at it.
The Scan
Registry cleaners use a two step (sometimes three step) process to repair any errors or irregularities in your registry files. The first step is a complete in depth scan of your entire registry. This checks each registry key, and registry value. IT ensures no keys are empty or redundant, and ensures that the values inside each registry key are correct.
If a key or value is found to be out of date, in error, or possibly there due to spyware or adware it is added to a list for repair or removal. After the complete scan has completed you are provided with a list of items found.
Repairing the Errors
After you have the list there are two alternatives. You can manually review each item that is on the list to ensure it is indeed an error. You can then choose to have the registry cleaner delete the item, or leave it alone. This option is for more intermediate users who wish to add a bit of customization to their registry repair efforts.
The second alternative is to allow the registry cleaner to automatically repair each item found during the complete scan. This can sometimes be risky as software can have mix ups. If you're going to use the automatic repair feature I urge you to make a backup of your registry and system files before doing so.
Finding the Best Registry Cleaner
If you spend some time doing research on all the different registry cleaners on the market you might make your head spin off. Try to limit the number of products you consider by using comparison and registry cleaner review websites. This will cut down your research time, and also introduce you to the top products all in one place with a rating and review already made for you to use to make a purchase decision.
