We all leave cookies for Santa, but do you forget his Reindeer?

We all have the tradition of leaving cookies for Santa, but the Reindeer need to eat too folks. How do you think Santa gets here? Those poor Reindeer get forgotten and they have quite a bit of weight to haul. So this year lets remember the Reindeer and the job they have of getting Big Fat Jolly Ol' Santa off the ground.

Lets make this year: The Year of The Reindeer!!!

So Who are Santa's Reindeer Again? Refresher Course to start us off.

Now lets sing a minute

Ok sound great, But what the heck do Reindeers eat?

Well real Reindeer eat plants and things like that, but Santa's Reindeer - well they are different, they are special.

So on Christmas Eve you gather some Oats (Oatmeal) and some shiny glitter or colored sugar crystals (this will help the Reindeer see the food on the ground when they come - Rudolph's nose helps it shine) and mix it together. They you divide it up in cups or bags for the kids. Then they go outside and sprinkle it on the lawn all over for when the Reindeer come. This will help to fill their tummies and have the energy to lift Fat ol' Santa back up after he eats all the cookies and milk inside.

Now you can make these up ahead of time and give them to the kids in school or day cares so they have some. Add a note on the bag that reads:

Sprinkle on the lawn at night
The moon will make it sparkle bright
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam
This will guide them to your home.

Santa's Reindeer

My Tradition

My kids do this every year on Christmas Eve - we take our Reindeer food at night and sprinkle it on the lawn then we go back inside, read Twas The Night Before Christmas, place the cookies out and go to bed to wake up to a room full of goodies. It feels good knowing not only Santa will have a full belly, but the Reindeer have been well fed as well.
