Relationship Between Google and Backlinks

The biggest struggle Google has when it comes to indexing the internet is trying to decide who should go where. Now they definitely rely on content quite a bit, but when you have two websites which are optimized with the same keywords and have equally useful information for their visitors who will be placed above who. This is why Google has chosen to use keyword filled anchor backlinks as a way to decide who will be placed higher within their index for certain key terms. The important thing a webmaster or blogger should worry about is creating quality content and getting linked to for their content rather than building each and every link. If you write amazing content then you will only spend a fraction of the time you will need to do well compared to if you write crap. Also work on building relationships within your niche so you know people who can throw you a link if you start up a new presence or need help with an existing one.

Backlinks are definitely a huge factor when it comes to ranking well in Google. First you need to understand that not all backlinks are equal. A backlink is a vote for your website from an external website to your website. The more authority the website has which is linking to your website the more help it will be to you and your rise in Google's SERPs. So do not try and get votes from the crap around the web stick with closely related websites which actually offer helpful information. Try finding something that has not been done. If you are the First with something then you will probably get quite a few backlinks since webmasters only have one place they can send their visitors for that specific information or service.

If you remember in the first article I said anchor filled backlinks. This is a key mistake that many new webmasters and bloggers make. They don't understand to rank well for a certain key term they must put that term between the anchor tags when building links. If you do not know what anchor tags are then I highly suggest you go through the free tutorials over at w3schools.com that teach HTML. Place your top keywords between the anchor tags the most frequently. You should also have a list of like ten keywords that you can rotate in so it will not be so obvious to Google that you are building links. If the link text is changing frequently the links will look much more likely and that means that Google will see them as natural and rank you higher. Remember the best links come from authority websites such as Wikipedia, .edu websites, top blogs in your niche, and pretty much any well respected website or blog will be good to get links from.
