Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a serious disease which has crippled many people's lives--holding them back from the social community and in some cases confined them to a wheelchair.
It is not contagious; nor is it life threatening, but just the same it can be devastating to those it affects. People have lost their jobs, friends and reputation as a result of this disease.
It's a chronic musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder which affects the muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Fibromyalgia is associated with a long string of symptoms, which makes it nearly impossible for any victim to function normally in today's society.
Medical science has come up with some relief medicines, but no cure as of yet. Patients are given muscle relaxers, pain killers, sleeping pills, anti-depressants and many other drugs to help them cope with the disease, but still the suffering continues.
But there is hope. While the root cause of fibromyalgia has not yet been discovered, there are several hypotheses of what causes it and how it might be cured. Many people have resorted to natural remedies to find relief and many have completely recovered.

The Symptoms
The symptoms vary from person to person. Some may experience all the symptoms while others only experience a fraction of them.
Sufferers experience a widespread pain tenderness to touch, pain may also be in a certain area such as the neck, shoulders, lower back hips, and other areas. Other symptoms include a needle-like tingling of the skin, burning sensations, muscle aches, muscle spasms, weakness in the limbs, facial pain, eye problems such as pain, blurred vision, and sensitivity to light, irritable bowel syndrome, sleeping disorder, fatigue, headaches, brain or fibro fog, and depression.
These symptoms may vary from day to day; flaring up one day while going into remission the next. This is the result of the aggravating factors such as improper diet, climate changes, cold or drafty environments, allergies, infections, hormones, over-exertion, anxiety and stress.
While avoiding the avoidable factors one can not be cured, but the symptoms can be reduced greatly. In order to find a cure we need to deal with the root cause of this disease.

The Root Cause
While the root cause is not known scientifically, studies have shown that many patients experience similar symptoms as those with nutritional imbalances, high toxins and low thyroid function.
When the body does not receive proper nutrition, it's unable to rid itself of all the harmful toxins. These toxins aggravate the soft muscle tissues causing the stiffness, pain and other symptoms.
When the thyroid function is low it doesn't produce enough hormones which are needed for the body to operate normally.

Natural Fibromyalgia Relief
Detoxify
The first thing to do is help the body to rid itself of all the toxins. This alone will result in great improvements within as little as 30 days.
This can be done very naturally by a seven day juice fast; or eating lots of fruits and vegetables like beets, radishes, artichokes, cabbage, broccoli, and seaweed which are good detoxifying foods.
To help with the detoxifying drink at least 3 liters of water each day, and make sure to get plenty of exercise.
A Sauna is a good way to detoxify through the skin. Hydrotherapy is also good; take a hot shower for 2 minutes, then cold for 30 seconds, repeat this about 3 times ending with the cold.

Proper Nutrition
The most common deficiencies are magnesium, calcium, and vitamin D.
Magnesium does the body a lot of good; and for the fibromyalgia sufferers it helps reduce depression and regulate muscle contraction and relaxation.
Magnesium can be found in foods like spinach, swiss chard, avocado, almonds, peanuts, and hazelnuts.
Most people think of milk when calcium is mentioned, but what they don't know is that the overall affect milk has on the body is not good. There is a far better source of calcium and that is found in green leaf vegetables such as chicory, dandelion greens, collard greens, broccoli, kale, and mustard greens. Sesame and sunflower seeds, almonds, brazil nuts, and pecans also are rich in calcium.
But in order for our body to absorb calcium we need vitamin D, which can be absorbed by being in the sun; 10 minutes per day is sufficient for the body to obtain the vitamin D it needs. The body stores any excess Vitamin D which is obtained in the summer months to be used in the winter months when getting enough sunshine is not possible.
Vitamin D is also found in foods like the shitake, chanterelle, and white mushrooms, and certain seaweeds.

Increase Serotonin
Fibromyalgia sufferers do not have enough brain chemicals such as serotonin, which induces sleep, reduces fatigue, depression, anxiety fibro fog, and increases memory retention.
Serotonin can be restored naturally by eating foods rich in serotonin like bananas, kiwi, pineapple, plantains, plums, tomatoes, avocados, broccoli, cantaloupe, cauliflower, dates, eggplant, figs, grapefruit, honeydew melon, spinach, and mushrooms. It's also found in nuts like walnuts and hickory.
