Everyone who starts yoga is not flexible that is something that develops as the muscles strengthen and stretch. Just like with weight lifting when you start you don't have the strength, it is developed. To accomplish this balance you will perform a series of poses each of which has it's own benefit. Yoga is not competitive which allows you to develop your own unique "practice" that benefits your needs.
For back pain yoga is perfect because it is gentle but very effective in providing strength to the muscles that are causing the pain. Back pain is usually caused from an imbalance in your body namely your spine, yoga brings that balance back relieving the pain.

- Yes I also love the warrior poses. Extended child's pose is also very helpful to loosen the lower back especially after having to sit for long periods of time. Thank you for your input!
