Need a Remedy for Sore Shoulders?

A remedy for sore shoulders is a helpful thing because shoulder pain can be an extremely debilitating and restrictive thing that effects nearly every part of your life from work, socializing, rest and many more.

When you realize that lifting, pushing, pulling as well as stabilizing and even cushioning your body as you rest are all jobs your shoulder is involved in you can really see the complexity of this joint and how you need to keep it healthy and pain free!

To do this you need to know a few things: What shoulder problem you have, how to manage pain and how to ultimately cure your shoulder injury or condition

Sore Shoulder Causes

Before we can go into remedying sore shoulders we must look at the causes of this pain to understand how to apply each technique to remove pain and promote healing.

There are a few common causes of sore and painful shoulders:

  • Frozen shoulders - Stiffening of the joint
  • Torn or damaged rotator cuffs - Torn tendons connecting muscle to bone
  • Tendonitis - Inflamed tendons that connect bone to muscle
  • Burstitis - Inflamed fluid sacks in the joints
  • Strained muscles - The least dangerous condition
  • Post surgery recovery pains

Knowing what you actually have makes a difference to your recovery approach and pain relief too but there are a few things you can do to help reduce soreness for all of them.

3 Sore Shoulder Remedy Tips to Reduce Pain

Hot/Cold Packs

The use of hot and cold packs on the sore shoulder can be of great benefit to reduce pain in the region. However, you must be careful about when you do this and or what injury.

A hot pack is useful for relieving pain in a stiff and sore shoulder when there is no inflammation and swelling. This will bring blood flow into the shoulder which is needed to loosen and heal the area. This will also reduce soreness.

A cold pack will do just the opposite of a cold pack. It will stop blood flow into the area and make it more stiff which is of use when there is swelling and inflammation. Apply a cold pack to reduce pain from inflammation when you need but be aware too much of this later and lack of movement may stop pain but will hinder recovery.

Light Exercise

If you have overcome initial inflammation and pain with rest and hot/cold packs you can start doing some exercise. This may seem like the last thing you want to do to a sore shoulder but it helps a great deal. Stretching and light weights help strengthen the surrounding muscles that atrophy making shoulder stability worse. You should also be stretching to the edge of discomfort but not beyond and not before either. Pushing to this limit will slowly tell the body where to heal and what to lengthen for less stiffness.

Each injury may require a different set of exercises however.

Diet

Some foods are better for relieving pain and have effects that are desirable to your condition.

  • Fatty Acids - Tuna, salmon, nuts and seeds are high in fatty acids which are better for you than the name might suggest. High in Omega 3 and anti-oxidants they also contain anti-inflammatory properties that can be very soothing and helpful.
  • Herbs and Spices - Chili, ginger and rosemary are some of the best herbs that also contain anti-oxidants and are well known for anti-inflammatory effects ion the joints of the body and can be used to spice up your meals too!
  • Sugar Free - High blood sugar levels are not good for you in general but also cause more swelling and inflammation. By cutting down on sugar and foods that are converted to sugar too quickly like pasta and white bread you can keep blood sugar levels low.

More on Sore Shoulder Remedies

I hope this can help you to remedy sore shoulders you may be suffering with because i know just how frustrating and painful such a condition can be.

I also advise that you seek professional help to cure the underlying causes of your discomfort because leaving this without proper care can lead to further injury that will continue to hinder and plague you. The sheer amount of actions your shoulder is used for is an indication of how vital this complex joint it to you and how much care you should take of it.

I highly recommend a downloadable e-book called Shoulder pain no more which gave me a step-by-step manual on how to self diagnose my condition (not what the doctor told me!) and how to salve the pain and remedy the sore shoulder for good.
