Remote Control Model Airplane

A radio-controlled aircraft (often called a Remote Control Model Airplane) is a model aircraft controlled remotely, with a hand-held transmitter and a receiver. If you are a beginner and want to take radio control models up as a hobby there are certain types of planes for you, such as the trainers and park flyers. For the expert radio control model airplane pilots, there are the pylon racers, helicopters, autogyros, and jets. An RC Airplane usually falls under 3 categories. A rubber powered propelled plane which is an airborne model plane using strips of rubber, and easy to fly. Also there is a control line model plane, which is made of solid balsa or plastic. They can fly using two lines to control the flight and powered by a miniature engine. Finally, the big one and most advanced are the radio controlled model airplanes. It consists of a radio transmitter and a receiver installed in the plane. These model airplanes are the most expensive because they require a battery pack, an engine, and fuel.

A common RC Plane is a Glider. It does not have any propulsion and most Gliders are unpowered. Jets however are expensive and most are powered by a ducted fan. Jets are equipped with kevlar fuel tanks and can reach speeds of 200 mph. The equipment is very expensive and you need very quick reflexes in order to control it, which is why jets should be reserved for the experts. Racers are a small propeller aircraft, and can be hard to see and can reach speeds of 150 mph. Racers are made of fiberglass and the wings are hollow to save weight. Radio-controlled helicopters are often grouped with RC aircraft, but usually helicopters are in a class of their own. The flight training, construction, and aerodynamics are vastly different from remote control model airplanes. Some RC Helicopters have video cameras that can be used for surveillance purposes, which can be a cool thing. The new 3D RC Helicopters can fly inverted with advanced swash heads.

RC Model Airplanes are becoming more and more popular as people are taking them up as a hobby, and scientists and government organizations are utilizing the RC Planes for experiments. Whether it's your hobby or a craft, remote control model airplanes are a fun and fulfilling experience.
