Work At Home Professional (WAHP) Checklist - Essay by Deborah Bryan

This lens is a checklist for the emerging Remote Workforce. Review of the new evolving workforce landscape, checklist of resources, management of time, networking, finding mentors, having a WAHP meeting to review plan, goals, mission, and focus of your work. Find tips about balancing 'work' with personal activities, social networking, marketing, and capital assessment. Professional Experts share vast knowledge to optimize your role in the Remote Workforce.

This is a work in progress that will be evolving throughout my research (September 25-30, 2008). I had originally planned to keep it in draft form but in published form I found it easier to review. Thank you for your patience and please feel free to comment in the guestbook to say hello or offer any suggestions.

What is the Remote Workforce?

What is the Remote Workforce? (Define 'remote' and how this population is evolving, who is, where is, why is, how is,)

"The remote workforce is a growing evolving generation of people (primarily women) who are finding that being closer to family in a home office has countless benefits and with the emergence of social media and extraordinary leadership the remote workforce can be virtually mobile, exceptionally resourceful, and extraordinarily successful in virtually any career.

An office at home has countless advantages. The 'perks' of corporate life cannot hold a candle to the advantages of working close to family and having the freedom to make your own hours. The cost savings alone (commute, wardrobe, office lunches, to name a few) is substantial.

Until now, the primary drawback of the work from home concept has been leadership. There are many books, audios, motivational speakers, mentors, and throughout time we have devoured them all and attempted to implement every tip and tool and attribute. There has always been something missing from this mix and match self help smorgasbord.

Professional Experts Recommendations

If you are not an expert - hire one.

During my work toward my degree I have discovered the areas that I do not have a passion for and have made a decision to hire experts to help me with these areas that are very important to business.

The most glaring weakness I have in business matters are the ones I will focus on finding professional experts to hire.

This section will list a varity of business activities and recommended professionals & resources. First scan the list and note which areas you feel the most strengths in. Then look the list over again and pick the areas you feel you are interesting yet you may not have had much experience in. The items left are your weakest interests and are likely to be the areas of business that you would consider hiring an expert to help you with them.
