Ranked #114,168 in Home & Garden, #2,181,115 overall
The bathroom is commonly used by everybody in your house. Even those strangers who happen to become your visitors may enter and use it. Therefore, the bathroom can be the dirtiest part of the house. This means that you should clean and maintain it at all times. If not, you may be inhaling dirty air. It is worst if you or one of your loved ones has ingested the bacteria or viruses by not washing the hands after each use of the bathroom facilities. This may result to sickness. And, they destroy the beauty of your bathroom, especially the black ones.
One of the most common dirt problems in your bathroom is the formation of molds. This is because the bathroom has higher humidity level compare to any parts of the house. Below are some tips which you may follow in removing and preventing the molds from coming back in to your bathroom:
Check out the causes.
Most probably, there is a leakage of water. If this happens, contact your plumber right away and have him fix it. You may also check the places where moisture most probably occurs. Check the edges of the tub, sink, and shower. You may also check the grout of the tiles and caulk. If you don't have a ventilator, maybe, you should try to have it installed. This will keep the whole bathroom dried.
Clean the entire bathroom.
The best and the cheapest way in removing molds is to use mixture of vinegar and baking soda. Apply this mixture to the areas where there are molds. You can then scrub the whole area. After that, apply water with bleach and use this in rinsing. If the molds are still hard to remove, let the water with bleach dry before applying it again. Scrub the entire area until you can see a mold-free bathroom. As much as possible, rinse it with hot water and let it dry before using the bathroom again. Turn on your ventilator to dry the whole place.
Hire an expert.
If the molds are widely spread and difficult to remove, you may call an expert. Let him see and assess your bathroom. Some parts of it may need to be remodelled or replaced like the ceiling and tiles.
Other tips:
Have a schedule on when you will clean the bathroom. Cleaning the bathroom at least once a week may prevent the formation of molds. And, it will be easier for you to remove them once they are not yet fully absorbed or scattered.
Before cleaning, make sure that you are ready, especially in cleaning the ceiling. Wear your protective gears like goggles, gloves, and mask. Bleach can irritate your eyes and nose. And also, make sure that the bleach will not come in contact with your outfit as it can cause discoloration.
Prepare your budget if the bathroom needs to be remodelled. Like for instance, if you are going to hire a professional to do the cleaning and assessment, you will need to pay for his services.
