Do you have ring around the toilet from hard water? Wanna know how to get rid of that?
So what is a hard water stain you ask?
The term "hard water" is used to describe water that is high in certain minerals, usually calcium and magnesium. A high enough concentration of these metals in your water can cause white lime scales on surfaces which the water comes into contact with. This can be anything from your toilet, showerhead to your tea pot or coffee maker. The scales build up over time and can become a real eye-sore, in the case of showerheads and spray-nozzles, they can even clog the small holes and reduce their efficiency. This can even happen when using a water softner. You may also have heard of it being referred to as "Lime Scale".
So what is the best way to get rid of the "Ring Around the Toilet?"
Ok so I must admit - I was a victim myself of the dreaded "Ring around the Toilet" - but at least it was just a hard water ring. So after trying a million different harsh chemicals and scrub brushes nothing worked. So I did some research and found what I thought was a crazy idea, but I tried it and sure enough my ring is no longer and I have a sparkely clean toilet we all love to Sh... - ok well you get it.So what is the trick you ask?
Simple: I used a Pumice Stone. A Pumice Stone is commonly used to remove dead skin off the bottom of your feet and found in the health section of the store. Who would of thought huh?
So I went out and bought one - a nice size brick type one. I also got gloves that went up my arm cause you will have to stick your hands into the toilet - ewww. So now you are gloved and armed with your stone and ready to get that ring... Just stick the stone into the water to get it a bit wet and start scrubbing the stain away. The stone will not scratch the toilet. It may take some time, but a little elbow grease is well worth it. The stone will get smaller as you scrub and the stain will slowly go away.
You will be amazed that after you have spent tons of money on cleaners and scrub brushes that all it took was this little piece of volcanic rock (Pumice Stone) to do the trick.
So now sit on your toilet, pick up a magazine and know that beneath you lies a toilet free of the dreaded "Hard Water Ring"
NOTE: That is not me in the photo - just thought I would let you know - lol
