This is one of the most advanced aircraft engines available today. And it's built right here in the United States of America.
Falcon with IO-233 LSA
The Lycoming IO-233-LSA can run on both avgas or automotive fuel (NO ethanol), it uses fuel injection, and includes a triple-redundant, dual-electronic ignition system for simplicity and lower weight. Notice the use of custom carbon fiber plenums on the IO-233.
Using this engine the Falcon LS offers unmatched reliability and performance in the LSA market. There is no need for a reduction gear which requires increased maintenance and other issues. The IO-233 is direct drive which means you are running at a lower RPM that gives you the smooth power you want. With a 2,400 TBO you get increased operating limits that other engines can't offer. Plus Lycoming parts and trained mechanics are widely available for this engine.
