Like most network marketers, I was in the 97% that was failing in network marketing. I was involved in several companies. Between paying for my monthly commitments to earn commissions. Plus spending hundreds of dollars for advertising. I soon found myself broke and discouraged. I realized I had been spreading my time and money trying to build to many businesses at once.

Not a very good idea! I fell for the idea of promoting one site while building multiple streams of income. I was told a few times to concentrate on one. And when I get one profitable, then work on building the next one. But I did not listen, I wanted to get rich instantly like I was told I could. The only one getting rich instantly was the person who sold me on the idea.

Between the network marketing companies, buying leads and advertising all with his affiliate links. This person is now a millionaire, while most of his downline is broke. Most people probaly would have given up. I know you can make a living online I see them everyday and they all have some kind of system they are using.

So I started researching the different systems. I came across the concept of monetizing my lead prospecting from Frank Garon and Daegan Smith. This made sense to me, instead of spending tons of money chasing after leads. Why not get them to pay me instead, through attraction marketing. Basically you provide a free info product that has an upsell.

While providing some value, initially. I came across 4 systems that did just that. 3 of them were loaded with affiliate links. I learned my lesson on promoting multiple network marketing companies. The other one wanted me to be on the phone 6 days a week. It was generic network marketing training for free. Basically they tried to get you to cold call leads. While trying to cast doubt about my current mlm.So I would asked them what company they were promoting.

After a while I asked what company they were in. I joined and bought some of the nutrition products that were recommended. The products were excellent, I still take the vitamins and limu juice. But they wanted me to be on autoship for $200.00 worth of products a month. I only use $100.00 worth, I guess I was supposed to give the $100.00 worth away to my warm market. Also to earn any commissions, I had to sell $400.00 worth before I could earn any commission over and above the first $400.00.

Ouch! A little to rich for my blood. Besides the 18 hours on the phone training and expectation of having to work my warm market. That was not going to work. I burned my warm market a long time ago. That is why I was trying the internet. Besides, I just did not have the time or the money.

Back to the drawing board. While I doing a little affiliate marketing using some of the traffic emailing exchanges. I can across an email ad. It was promoting "The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing" by Ann Sieg. It was free so I downloaded it and read it. After reading it I certainly could relate to what Ann had to say. I immediately purchased "The Renegade Network Marketer" Excellent ebook on various methods on attractive marketing.

It was also a complete lead generating system. Including two lead capture pages, prewritten ads, graphics and banners. For $67.00 it was a steal. I have already generated 1,000+ leads and earned over $1,000.00 in commissions. Though I was not up to speed on this Web 2.0 stuff. My idea of Web 2.0 was it consisted of using video and audio on my website. I soon learned it was a little more than that.

It was social marketing. Social networking, book marking, article marketing, blogging, and other methods. My friend, Melissa tried to get me involved in social networking in July '08. As she has several lens here at squidoo. Melissa's main lens is Mentoring Network Marketers I signed up for a Squidoo account. But I did not do much with it.

I recieved an email from the person that originally turned me on to Ann's books. He told me about how I might sell a few more ebooks through Renegade University. I checked it out and signed up while Mike was in the process of getting it set up.

I started promoting Renegade University to test it out to see how it work. Before Mike had the Renegade Professional side set up. The free side had some excellent training videos and webinars on attraction marketing. But when Mike got the Professional side set up it was even better. Mike's training videos showed me how to set up my Squidoo lens. Step by Step as I followed along. Being a non-techie, Mike's training videos were a BIG HELP!

I actually started my Web 2.0 marketing video instruction out of squence. I first started watching the training videos on blog building. I already had tried blogging before using Blogger.Com. It took me quite a few hours, just to set up my first blog. As I had no idea how it worked.

They had a few templates to work with. And you could add different page elements. There was some instructions. But, it was confusing and scattered about in the F.A.Q.s, Frequently Asked Questions. I never did find a way I could track my visitors. To see how many page views or where my traffic came from. After a while I gave up on blogging.

While I was watching one of the webinars videos. Discussing how to use the different aspects of social marketing. Mike showed one of his blogs,"Marketing Merge Network". I really liked how the page template was set up. Simple and clean. I started thinking to myself, I could set up a blog. Instead of building a website that had content with various different web pages. If you have ever tried to build a website from scratch. It can be very time trying experience.

I definitely, prefer using a template. It is a lot easier to edit a template, than building it from scratch. But, finding the right template style with the page elements set up the way you want it is challenging. The problem is you are stuck with there choices. I have looked at hundreds of different templates. But, never found one, I really liked.

The service Mike used was SquareSpace.Com. I had never heard of them before. But, you could try out their service for two weeks. You did not even need a credit card to sign up. So, I signed up. It has a great feature for analyzing your traffic. This is very helpful in that you can see how many page views. What pages were viewed and where the traffic came from. Very similiar to what you get with a hosted website. The cost with your Renegade University discount was only $6.30 a month. Less than, what most hosting costs per month.

I started setting up my blog, before I finished watching the training videos. If I had finished, I probaly would not had to reset up a few of the pages. Whoops! That happens when you start getting ahead of yourself. Though after playing around a little bit with the blog site. I understood some the technical stuff in the rest of the videos better.

Sometimes just checking out what the various links and buttons do. Gives you a better understanding on how it all works. Even though I messed up a few things in the beginning. It helped me build my blog better the second time.

While I was building my blog site. I decided to check out Ezine Articles.Com. I happened to come across an article written by one of my fellow students from Renegade University. That had been published and was featured on the front page at Ezine Articles that day. I read Tahmina's article and left a comment on her article. If for no other reason than to give someone encouragement, and maybe help her page ranking. Tahmina emailed me, and asked me to check out her Squidoo Lens: Attraction Marketing Training. It was well written and an informative article on Attraction Marketing. Naturally, I gave Tahmina a thumbs up and left a comment about her article.

Speaking of leaving comments, I do not know about you. But, I am on several gurus emailing lists. And I get several emails from them. Some of them suggest I take a look at their latest blog posts. I used to delete them without looking at them.

I started them out, to see if they want me to look at their blogs. I know, why should I waste my time? Because, you want to post a comment about whatever they are trying to promote. Just make sure you add some value to their blog and not spam them. You usually get to post a link to one of your webpages or website.

In doing so, because you are posting on a higher ranking page. With a link pointing back to you, can help your page rank higher. Every little bit helps, to get your pages ranked higher in the search engines.

So next time a guru asks you to check out their blog, post a friendly comment. You never know who might read your comment. And decide to check your link out. A little extra traffic would not hurt any of us. Remember, we all can use a little extra help, where we can get it.
