MS Outlook SPAM REPORTING Macro (Anti-Spam Tool)
Ranked #23,626 in Computers & Electronics, #443,905 overall
Just another Anti-spam tool... but a good one!
Well, I am writing this lens to share with all of you a VB Macro I created for MS Outlook, that will allow you to select your incoming spam messages and click a toolbar button to report the offending spam e-mails to a number of Spam Filtering services...
As a Watchguard Firewall user, I wanted an easy way to submit False Negative SPAM reports to Commtouch. The manual process required saving the spam as an .msg file and attaching it to a special e-mail addressed to their reporting address with special information in the subject and nothing in the body. Enough of a pain that I rarely ever did it.
So, I created the Anti-spam SPAM REPORTING Macro for MS Outlook (with some help) to do it for me in Outlook 2007. Just select the spam, and click the button. I have added some other reporting addresses to it as well including the FTC. People are free to modify it to fit their needs.
The code is available at my blog, just click here. I am not going to post the code here as some sites don't allow it and I don't know if it will be formatted correctly to Copy and Paste from Squidoo, so please visit my blog above for the code. Plus, I don't want to have to update it at multiple sites..
For those of you who do not know how to install VB Scripts in MS Outlook, I will be posting some links on my site that will help you out.

I would like to thank Alan Mercer for providing the code snippet that removes the signature from the outgoing e-mail. Alan is a true watchguard hero!
Why report the Spam? Why not just block them and move on???
SPAM is a Global Problem and yet anti-spam vendors would rather "go their own way" then to work togehter to create a common solution. After all, there is no money in actually solving the problem... So, because there is no centralized database that is common to all of the anti-spam platforms, each Vendor or Anti-Spam agency operates it's own propriatary system to block spam. Spam that is blocked VIA Service 1, will not be blocked by service 2, at least not right away.
This is good news for the spammers. What this means is that so longs as they keep flooding the internet with millions of spam, many people will still get them and worse yet, a small percentage of them will open and click on items in those e-mails. This makes it Profitable for the spammers to continue.
So, In order to hurt the spammers profit margin, we need to submit to as many anti-spam vendors and services as possible so as to help crush the spam as quickly as possible.
The more of us who do this and the more address that we report spam to, the better, as far as I am concerned. And if the commtouch or other vendors cannot handle the volume of Spam Reports that they receive, well that's just too bad, they can get over it and just make it work.
Please feel free to share this information with anyone you know who receives a significant number of spam. Heck.. Set it up for them and show them how to use it.

Feel free to leave your comments or edits you have added to the script. Also welcome are reporting addresses for Anti-Spam vendors. If you leave a reporting e-mail address for a vendor, please their web site address as well, where I can see their details. It they are legit and if it's not a violation of any of their terms, I will add them to the script.
