Most of the websites I have listed offer free materials, lessons, and downloads that I hope will be as helpful to you as they have been to us. Please share your great ideas for learning about these super cool animals! We love to hear what other homeschoolers and educators use for their students!

Christian School, you will find an Animal Unit. ~ I created these when my children were doing a unit on mammals in 2009, but several of the items may be used when studying reptiles and amphibians, also. ~ God's Animals Unit! ~ a collection of materials I collected and placed at the Lapbook Lessons website! Besides amphibians and reptiles, you will find all sorts of materials for every animal plus clip art sites, animal crafts links, and more.
~ The Learning Page: Reptiles & Amphibians Section has numerous materials for a fantastic unit study! You will find fact files for 20 different animals, funsheets (about 20 pages in math, 20 in language arts, and 20 in science for each grade PreK - 3rd), murals, cut-outs and clipart, lesson plans, teaching notes, and recommended reading lists. You have to become a member of the site, but it is free to use. For my second grader, the materials at this website alone would make a very thorough unit!
~ Animal Printable Worksheets from Enchanted Learning contain all types of animal activities related to science, language arts, math, and more! These pages are very informational! They make great resources to put in notebooks and lapbooks! Some pages are free, and others are by a small yearly membership fee.
~ ABC Teach has tons of wonderful worksheets, reading comprehension activities, coloring pages, shape books, writing forms, bookmarks, charts, games, graphic organizers, word searches, crosswords, and more!!! Great stuff!
~ *Animal Field Guides: You can search the guide under the class you are studying, then choose a particular family and animal. Ex) Amphibians-Salamander-Ringed Salamander. Each individual animal listing gives description, habitats, endangered status, basic info, and pictures. There is also a place where you can enter your zip code or region you are studying, and it will bring up animals native to that area. This site is easy to use and informative. There are almost 100 different amphibians and reptiles in their database.
~ About Animals at the BBC has info pages, videos, quizes, and games for all classifications of animals.
~ Learning Island has free downloadable books for kids and teachers. Click on "Book List" on the left side of the page. There are currently 3 books in the "Amphibians and Reptiles" section and 24 in the "Wildlife" section. Grade levels, teacher plans, and worksheets are given to use with some of the books.
~ Reptiles & Amphibians Links to powerpoints, lessons, activities, games, worksheets, and others from Mr. Donn's website. These are fun!
~ Animals of the Bible Dictionary - a few reptiles are listed.
~ Reptiles & Amphibians Activities at DLTK has all kinds of cool crafts and materials for children ~ dinosaurs, frogs, snakes, and other animals (alligator, chameleon, crocodile, turtle)!
~ Waterford Press has many fun puzzles, worksheets, drawing, quizes, and other animal activities when you join their site for free!
~ Create your own Board Game with pictures and text from Tools for Educators.

Amazing Amphibians!
Did you know that the word "amphibian" comes from an old Greek word "amhipbios"? The root word "amphi" means both or double and "bio" means life, therefore the word "amphibian" means "both life" or "double life". Why do you think they were given that name? An Online Guide for the Identification of Amphibians in North America north of Mexico: Great place to start your study! Find salamanders, frogs, and more listed by family or species. A large classification chart will help you to find information and pictures of many amphibians!
~ The Amphibia section at Discover Life is a great way to research the three main categories of amphibians ~ frogs, salamanders, and caecillians. It will lead you to information, pictures, and links to tons of amphibians!

Delightful Dinosaurs!
It's always so much fun to learn about these amazing giants! I prefer using creation based materials when talking about dinosaurs, but the following lists of dino pages contains both creation and evolution. - I've always loved these guys - I was delighted to discover salamanders, toads and frogs in the garden this spring. They inspired me to draw new coloring pages! My great joy these days is looking for nature with my 2 year old grand daughter ... she loves "sallies" and toads.

- Living in South Florida I regularly saw plenty of reptiles and amphibians. I love turtles and watching iguanas, but it's the smaller geckos that really fascinate me the most.
