I Can Be Found, On American Ground, And Usually Where It Is Wet, My Species Size Will Vary A Lot, But I'm The Smallest Yet

Reptiles build nests, and lay their eggs, just like the chickens do - but I'm so glad, they do not crow, or cock-a-doodle-do.

I'm A Pet, From The Land Down Under, My Spiny Scales Are A Wonder, When Expanded They Look So Weird, Now This Pet Has A Beard

Reptile's bodies don't produce heat, so they warm up in the sun, they usually hide from predators, when the warming is done.

Though reptiles are scary to many people, whenever they are around, they earn their place by helping to keep the insect population down.

Some reptiles are pets, and some grow real fat, but the best pet for me, is probably a cat.

Some reptiles move slow and some move real fast and to me this is just fine, but remember to check when playing in the woods, that it really is a vine.

Most reptiles eat meat and plants, and they are as happy as can be, I think it is great that they get their fill, as long as their fill is not me.

That's Right! That's Right! You Picked The Right One, The Bog Turtle Thinks,That Mud Is Fun

Bog Turtle Picture On Reptile's Eyes

For The Kids...

Sometimes I live in groups, but sometimes I live alone,
-I always find that soft mud, makes the perfect home.

At night I hide and sleep, but get warmed by the sun at day,
-my territory I try to keep, other Bog Turtles away.

My diet includes some bugs, some moss, some grass and slugs,
-my food I never roast, but it's insects I need the most.

I heard I taste good too, so this is what I do,
-when predators come around, I bury myself in the ground.

I always try my best, to make me a real good nest,
-by digging with both of my legs, a nice hole to hide my eggs.

Bearded Dragon Picture On Reptile's Eyes

For The Kids...

I live in the deserts of Australia, where food is hard to find,
-I only eat plants and bugs, but can't seem to make up my mind.

When I am young I eat more bugs, roaches, crickets and worms,
-But the older I get, I change my diet, I don't like the way they squirm.

The older dragons, like myself, just a little past our teens,
-enjoys a diet with fewer bugs, that has a lot more greens.

I'll make a good pet and be your friend, but to bugs I'm really feared,
-so never scare me and you won't see, this dragon's frightful beard.

So if your choosing a pet, that you won't regret,
-then take the time to see,
-though my tail is not waggin, there is no better dragon,
-so take good care of me.

For The Kids...

I live around creeks, and watery land,
-where I feed upon fish, and sunbathe in the sand,

Teeth I have many, but friends just a few,
-don't get too close, cause I'll even eat you.

I'll build me a nest, on a watery shore,
-and there I'll lay eggs, till I can't lay no more.

-my eggs I'll protect, and when the shells break,
-I'll help my baby crocs, get down to the lake.

Down at the water, I won't teach them to swim,
-they already know how, It's kind of built in.

They know how to hide from the predators around,
-they'll hide in small places, and never be found.

They''ll grow bigger and bigger with each passing day,
-they'll feed upon fish, and eggs they will lay.

Legs and arms I have none, and to smell I use my tongue,
-I'll catch a meal and the day is done, now open wide cause here it comes.

Different colors even blue, I even blend in with the background too,
-I can also catch a mouse or shrew, and shake my tail ... how 'bout you?

Some are called king, and some of us can fly,
-we don't have any wings, but some of us still try.

All of the places I live are nice, I like the places where I can catch mice,
-to play with me, you better think twice, the places I don't like all have ice.

For The Kids...

I drift through the water, to find a frog,
-I hope that he thinks I'm just a log.

My fingers and toes are webbed, and they help me swim along,
-and when I use my tail, I know I can't go wrong.

When I am really small, I have these yellow rings,
-they don't anything at all, it's just a childhood thing.

But they slowly disappear, a little more everyday,
-and when their all gone, my predators become my prey.

When I am fully grown, my size just can't be beat,
-from the end of my tail to my nose, can measure 16 feet.

You're Right ! You're Right ! The Spiny-Tail Iguana May Not Make A Good Pet, But One Of His Cousins Are Easier Kept

Spiny-Tail Iguana Picture On Reptile's Eyes

For The Kids...

My tail has spiny scales, that never even twitch,
-but I think it could hurt real bad, if I ever get an itch.

I lay my eggs like many, In a comfy little nest,
-I lay just about twenty, and as a mother I'll do my best.

When I am still very small, It's insects that I eat,
-but when I grow much older, I get tired of all the meat.

Though insects are good to eat, I have to be in the mood,
-now that I have some age, I'd rather have green food.

Some people make us pets, and you can if you wanna,
-but a better pet for you, is called the Green Iguana.
