The Secret To Effective Republican Campaign Giveaways

Give Your Stuff To These People and Your Campaign Will Thrive

I don't care how many pens, pencils, t-shirts or whatever you give to a Democrat with your Republican campaign logo on it ... the truth is, if they're a die-hard Dem, they aren't going to vote for you.

Problem is, when you're walking a parade route or working a fair booth, you don't know who's a Republican and who's not. And if your list totally sucks you don't know the dem houses from the Republican houses. (In which case you need a list guy that can create effective walk lists for you.) So you end up wasting your money on every Dem you hand your campaign chum to and you don't even know it.

If you want to make real good use of your campaign promotional product dollars, develop a stable of useful branded products that will serve as tools and thank-yous to volunteers, staff and proven supporters.

People who support you are more likely to publicly show that support. People who will put a lawn sign in their yard or a bumper sticker on their vehicle are proven supporters. These are the people who are likely to use your logo'd pen in public or wear your ball cap. Those who give you a check (personal of course)are proven supporters. And while some may not want to publicly show their support, a $3 mug or nice letter opener or supporter pin is the least you can do to thank them for a $250 or $500 check.

But the most important people you can give your branded promotional products to is the volunteers. First of all, if you offer volunteers a smart-looking branded t-shirt it gets your brand out there for people to see AND it gives a cohesive look to your Republican campaign. Second, while a volunteer who has put 20 to 40 hours in during a week on your campaign isn't expecting anything - handing them a branded ball cap, a mug or a water bottle will be appreciated - especially, when they know that you aren't handing them out to everyone. And the best part, they will wear and/or use this stuff for everyone to see.

Items that market your Republican campaign and serve either as tools for volunteers or simply to thank them include T-shirts, sweat-shirts, ball caps, clip boards, pens, water bottles, sun visors, coffee mugs and lanyards.

Consider branded, disposable rain ponchos for campaigning in the rain. A dozen decent branded umbrellas is worth consideration as well.

By using the right branded products and giving them to the RIGHT people,ie: volunteers, staff and proven supporters, you can effectively:

1) increase awareness of your Republican campaign;
2) enhance loyalty
3) provide tools yourstaff and volunteers can use
4) make efficient use of Republican campaign dollars.

Republican GOP Campaign Bumper Stickers

Why They Got A Bad Rap

A few year's back bumper stickers got a bad rap within political circles because once a candidate lost, supporters had a tough time getting the bumper sticker off of their vehicle. WHY?

In a nutshell, it's because campaigns were buying the cheapest bumper sticker they could find. And when I say cheap, I don't mean the best value. What they were buying was a bumper sticker that was manufactured with permanent adhesive on a paper substrate.

Today there's a better choice: Vinyl, removable bumper stickers. First, they are manufactured with an adhesive that will allow the sticker to be more easily removed in 4 to 6 months. Secondly, because the stickers are screen printed on a vinyl substrate, they look better - longer.

The bottom line? If you want to go cheap, people will be less likely to want your sticker on their vehicle. But when you can tell them that it's a quality sticker, manufactured to be more easily removed down the road, then they'll be more agreeable - providing they support you.

Yes, vinyl , removable bumper stickers do cost a few cents more. The way to combat that is to give some serious, realistic thought to how many bumper stickers you'll really need. Then, order enough so you don't have to keep re-ordering. Ordering 20,000 at one time is way more cost effective than ordering 5K four times.

Sure. If you leave a vinyl, removable bumper sticker on long enough %u2026 say 8 to 12 months, it too may be a little hard to remove. But for the money, you're going to be a lot better off with the quality vinyl removable over the cheap, permanent bumper stickers.

Republican Megaphone Marketing

Have Supporters Give YOU a Shout!

When planning your Republican campaign, expand your thinking a bit. For instance, consider the impact of a couple hundred or so megaphones imprinted with your Republican Campaign logo.

First, and most obvious, they are great for volunteers to use in parades. Develop a few cheers such as ,"When we say, "Vote For" You say (Insert Republican Candidate name here). Vote for! And then the crowd responds. You can have a lot of fun doing this. The crowd gets to hear the name and you're not wasting your money handing your "stuff" to Democrats who won't vote for you anyway.

Once you've made your investment in the megaphones you can use them in a number of other venues:

1) Let's say you want to host a bicycle safety rally in conjunction with the local police department. Use the megaphones as traffic cones laying out the course for the kids to ride their bikes.

2) At fund raisers, Lincoln day dinners and meet & greets, you place the megaphone over a vase, insert flowers and you have instant table centerpieces.

3) If you purchase the megaphone with the optional end cap, you can fill them with pop corn, making them a great item to give supporters at fundraisers.

And when you think about it, the whole cheering thing is a great way to add fun and excitement to a rally or fundraiser. If you give it some real thought, you can develop some cheers that can have a lasting effect throughout a Republican campaign.

How cool would it be for about 50 of your supporters to be in the stands at a high school basketball game and your Republican megaphones get 12 seconds on the 11:00 o'clock news sports highlights. Hey! It could happen. Go Team!
