Very informative! Great lens. I especially liked the graph. I think DIY Solar is the way to go. I can't wait until this becomes a fad..and every household will have solar panels.

An excellent idea - RePower America estimates that the US could be getting 39 percent of its energy from wind and solar by 2020. That's big.

I think making your own solar panels is the only way to. It just cost so much less, plus its fun to do.

Your lens would be a great addition to the 'Solar Technology and Solar Energy' Group
    ( http://www.squidoo.com/groups/solar )
Feel free to add it anytime!

My wife has been lobbying me to go solar for quite a while now. Thanks for this informative site, I think it's the final nudge I needed! 5*s and added to my favorites. I will refer to this page when I take my next few steps towards getting off the grid!

    Wow!
Great lens. It contains a lot of information on solar power especially on solar panels!
I wish my lens on how to build homemade solar panels would be similar to yours!
I've also bought the Earth4Energy and I found it an awesome guide! It helped me to cut my bill by approx. 70%!

The first step towards acceptance of solar power in the mainstream is to create awareness. Your lens does a terrific job of creating just that. Thanks for your efforts and putting together this useful information. I'd also like to think that my site, The Solar Cost Guide, also serves the community with useful solar information links, articles and references. Please stop on by and see what others are building for solar projects to help reduce our dependence on non-renewable energy.

Insightful and useful lens. You talk about the 2 options of hiring contractors and DIY for building Solar Power Homes. Both of these options do require several thousands of dollars of upfront investment for any reasonable sized solar installation. There is a third option now being offered by California company called Solar City. They offer zero upfront costs, and a monthly lease of around $100/month including all future upgrades, maitenance, installation etc. You can check them out at at http://solarcity.com/solarlease/default.aspx

Ps: Apologies for the multiple duplicate postings. Browser hung, and I hit on Save button several times by error :)
